Today, we’re heading to Japan, where I sat down to chat with marketing genius Yohko: Octopus Energy Japan’s Head of Marketing.

We’re in the middle of a massive, system-wide transformation in energy. The change is crucial because the power sources we rely on are changing. Moving from “burning fossil fuels on demand” to “producing power according to when the sun’s shining and the wind’s blowing” means we need to look at new, creative ways to balance energy needs with generation to ensure our future electricity system remains safe and reliable.

From conserving our coasts to protecting the climate, seaweed is vital to our natural world, but thanks to rising sea temperatures, kelp forests are dwindling. That’s why we’re working with marine biologists Luke Moir & Lauren Rose on a research project to help accelerate kelp reforestation in the UK.

Hot tips for running your heat pump this winter

We're on a mission to decarbonise UK homes, starting with one of the biggest carbon culprits: home heating.

We think heat pumps are the answer. They’re a tried and tested technology, and almost 4 times more efficient than a gas boiler. Plus you can power them on 100% renewable electricity. What’s not to love!

We're using technology to make heat pumps simpler and cheaper for UK homes, investing £50m in the UK's first heat pump R&D & training centre and training an army of green installers so we can deliver heat pumps at the same price as gas boilers.
