What is the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) scheme?

The Feed-in-Tariff closed to new customers on 31st March 2019, but if you’ve got low carbon tech, you can still get great value on our smart export tariffs.

As part of the FiT scheme, the government pays customers for the renewable energy they generate or export to the National Grid, like solar or wind energy. 

The scheme closed on 31st March 2019 and was replaced by the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) – but if you have an eligible FiT installation and applied before then, you’ll still receive payments until your tariff ends.
