Is Weekend Happy Hours being extended?
Yes! It's being extended until 14th February 2027, but it won't work in exactly the same way. Here's why:
Finding ways to keep the free power flowing in winter is hard. Energy demand for heat soars, and last-minute energy gets very pricey – made worse by the ongoing instability overseas.
We’ve been hard at work on a way to keep Happy Hours going through those high-price months, and we’ve landed on a token system.
How the Weekend Happy Hours token system works (from November 1)
Earn: 1 token for every successful Saving Session.
Exchange: The amount of tokens you need to unlock a Happy Hour fluctuates week-to-week. We’ll try to keep it at 2 tokens = 1 Happy Hour, but on a high-priced weekend, it might be 3 or more.
Raincheck: On a really bad weekend, like a cold snap with lots of fossil fuels in the wires, we might have to skip Happy Hours – but only as a last resort.
Bank: Like before, you’ll be able to save your tokens and use them on a future weekend that suits you. They expire on 14th February 2027.
We’re also adding more flexibility to your schedule
After November 1, look out for the odd Saturday session and booking windows outside the usual 11am-3pm slot. (Yup, we listened)
Will my current banked Happy Hours roll over?
If you've got more hours than you can possibly use this weekend, we'll roll the rest over.
That means two of your banked Happy Hours MUST be used this weekend (or they'll be wiped). So you may as well book them in.
If you have more than two in the bank, those extras will roll over into November and become tokens.
