Nicki Slater-Arnold is a writer at Octopus who focuses on demystifying the energy sector and making tariffs, smart meters and green tech as clear as possible for customers. Before joining the company in 2026 she had worked at The Times for 15 years, most recently as a senior sub-editor. This year she ran a live blog during the Energy Tech Summit and, though it was such a busy day that she ended up lying on the floor completely spent, customers fed back that it was really helpful, so she's steeling herself to do it again next year (with more caffeine). Nicki's four-year-old son is currently completely obsessed with Constantine, our giant pink mascot. Though, for reasons known only to himself, he refers to her as "BB Nipples".
