We're giving eligible British pubs free electricity for England and Scotland games during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Seriously.
Free supplies for our World Cup ties.
Free kilowatts while we cheer on the Scots.
Free ions while we support the Three Lions.
(We’ve got more of these …)

Terms and conditions apply.
How does Watt a Save work?

On the night of each England and Scotland game, you’ll get 5 hours of free electricity.
Between 7pm and midnight, we'll cover your electricity usage and standing charge. Golazo!
It’s a bit like happy hour, but for electricity.
During these windows, we'll bill you for your usage as normal. Then, when the tournament ends, we'll add up all of your savings and credit them to your Octopus Energy account.
Watt a Save is for all England and Scotland's group stage games and any knockout matches they're in later in the tournament.
Talk about free kicks.
Who can join Watt a Save?
Watt a Save is for pubs across Britain. Even if your national team isn't playing (sorry, Wales), you'll still get free electricity on the night of each England or Scotland game.
To join, your business needs to:
Be a pub supplied by Octopus Energy for Business
Have a working meter that sends us automatic readings (e.g. smart meter, AMR meter)
Fill in the super speedy Watt a Save application form
When we get your application, we'll check whether you're eligible. We'll email you within a few days to let you know.
If you are eligible, you'll get free electricity on the nights of England and Scotland games from the date you applied. So, the sooner you apply, the more Watt a Save windows you can enjoy.

Why are you giving pubs free electricity?
Because we're on the team of British businesses. Think of us as your 12th Octopus.
At Octopus Energy for Business, we've been fighting for SMEs for years. We make energy more accessible, campaign against dishonest brokers and keep our prices fair.
We know that running a pub can be really tough. Across the country, pub owners are feeling the squeeze from rising costs. Recently, we ran a survey asking UK SMEs about different aspects of business energy. Here's what people in the hospitality and leisure sector (which includes pubs) had to say:
67%
say energy bills are actively limiting growth and investment.
74%
say energy costs have had a negative impact over the last 12 months.
55%
are sceptical about the pricing offered by energy suppliers.
From an Octopus Energy for Business and YouGov survey of 1034 UK SME decision-makers, including 88 from the hospitality and leisure sector (April 2026).
We think businesses like these deserve a little assist - and the World Cup feels like a great time to do it.
So Octopus Energy is really into football, huh?
Definitely! Although it's a bit expensive having to buy 8 shin pads at a time.
So, we mostly focus on helping other players get kitted out instead. Our Kits for Kids scheme gives away football kits to thousands of grassroots teams every year.

Here are some of the stars of Newtown Sports Girls FC (U8s) in their snazzy new kit from Octopus Energy.

Enjoy free electrification while we back the nation!
After the tournament, we'll sum up all the energy you used during England and Scotland games.
We'll then add that as credit into your Octopus Energy account within 30 days of the tournament ending.
Yep! We'll reimburse you for your electricity usage and standing charge during these windows.
The free electricity window is always 7pm-12am on the night of the game.
For example, Scotland's game v Haiti is in the wee hours of Sunday 14th June. But, the free electricity will be 7pm-12am on Saturday 13th.
No problem, you'll still get the free electricity on England and Scotland game nights.
People avoiding the World Cup need a little treat too!
Well it's a toughie, but it'd probably look something like this:
