Meet our team in Brighton

Our energy specialists provide end-to-end customer support from Leicester, Brighton, London and beyond. All our staff are part of little mini-teams of <10, with each team responsible for looking after a few thousand customers.

This way, our customers always have a great experience, and often end up talking to the same few specialists every time they need our help!

Meet the teams working in Brighton.

We are Team H.

H is for hardworking, but also for HUNGRY, which is great because we go out drinking and eating all the time. What’s the point of living in Brighton if you’re not going to make the most of the 900 pubs and bars in London-by-Sea, right?

So who are we? It’s a question we often ask ourselves, especially on a Tuesday morning after a bank holiday weekend. This is what we can tell you for sure:

Team leader extraordinaire Ines Amorelli, who moved from Leicester to head up one of the first ever Brighton teams

Richard (Rich is a massive board game lover. Favourite one: Ticket To Ride)

Izabela (a Friends fanatic who keeps trivia cards by her desk at all times, claims she can make the best tiramisu in Transylvania)

Alanah (she says there is literally nothing interesting about her, though she does have a hot tub in her garden!)

Charlotte (who did criminology and psychology at university)

Hayley (who lives in a cottage in the middle of the countryside and has a baby Schnauzer called Esme, the poshest dog’s name ever)

Rob (the newby of the team)

Team H only came into existence in February 2019 so we haven’t been together that long, but we all have a lot of fun and work really well together. We’re really excited about our move from Shoreham-by-Sea to the heart of Brighton. Party time! Yay! Ines especially so as she lives about the length of a double-decker bus from the new site. Not that we’re jealous. Oh no.

Our best energy advice to customers is look at your bills! Try to work out what is costing the most to run and see if you can modify your behaviour. You’ll be rewarded with lower energy bills. We want to give you money back! Help us…

We mentioned at the top that there are 900 pubs and bars in Brighton. But it wasn’t always the case. In 1800 there were 41 inns and taverns in Brighton. Yet incredibly, that meant there was one inn for every 30 houses. If that was the case now, there’d be a pub on every single street. Which doesn’t sound bad, does it?

Team J please, pick up the phone I'm on the request line...

You might not know this but when you join Octopus Energy and your account is created, you get assigned a team to look after you. If you are one of the luckiest customers, you are assigned to Team J!

We start with Lisa (Team Leader), who is seriously in love with resident Good Boy Max. He is sleek, handsome and eager to please. Max, of course, is a springer spaniel and used to work as a gun-dog (no, really).

Lisa’s team includes

  • Barry (possibly the biggest Harry Potter fan on the planet, even though he is a Muggle)
  • Joshua (who loves sorting out bills)
  • Alex, (who is vegan and loves yoga, rock-climbing and pole-dancing)
  • Eleanor (who walks her cat to the off-licence – each to their own, right?)
  • Corey (who is 23, and he has a massive tattoo and a beard so Brighton is hipster heaven for him)
  • Freya (who used to live in the Philippines conserving whales, sharks and turtles and is messianic about saving the planet)
  • Adam (who hikes to work for 90 minutes each way in specialist walking boots for fun… ‘nuff said)

We work hard to make sure your journey with Octopus is great from the start. We confirm that we have taken the latest readings from your previous supplier. We give you all the information you could ever require (possibly more!) And we are fanatical about making sure you’re getting the best value for money. Great customer service from a real human being is an added bonus!

We learn as a team how to avoid mistakes happening again. This could be literally anything, from improving our emails, suggesting changes for your online account or popping round your house to do a spot of gardening. (OK, we lied about the gardening.)

We love problem-solving and sharing our great win moments. If something goes wrong (see note above about being real humans), we all work together to fix it. We learn as a team how to avoid those mistakes happening again. This could be literally anything, from improving our emails, suggesting changes for your online account or popping round your house to do a spot of gardening. (OK, we lied about the gardening.)

Ours is the best team because we are in Brighton and we got to go to Wembley in the semi-final of the FA Cup – so we know all about team spirit, and being the little guys taking on the Big Six.

If we had one piece of advice for our customers it would be to keep a keen eye on the tariffs you are on and look at your Unit Rate and Daily Standing Charge when comparing tariffs/suppliers. This will ensure you are getting the best deal possible!

We like a good board game in Brighton so you’re likely to catch us at lunchtime or after work hunched over Sushi Go! or Timelines. Not that we’re competitive, though come to think of it Richard from Team H hasn’t been seen since beating Barry in Team J about three weeks ago. We kinda miss him. Must get a new Richard soon...
