Terms and conditions for Renault 5, Megane and Scenic home charging energy offer

If you order a new Renault 5, Megane or Scenic vehicle (a Qualifying Vehicle) between 00:01 on 17th December 2024 and 23:59 31st March 2025, and registered by 23:59 30th June 2025 from a participating dealer you’ll be eligible to receive a credit on your Octopus account of an amount up to 10,000 miles of vehicle charging (the Credit) (as calculated in, and subject to, the terms and restrictions below) when you join Octopus Energy on the EV tariff known as ‘Intelligent Octopus Go’ (the Offer).

Eligibility:

The Offer:

  1. applies to retail orders only, fleet and Motability customers are excluded;
  2. is only available to purchasers of a Qualifying Vehicle;
  3. is only available to people over the age of 18 in the United Kingdom (but excluding Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands) who have a smart meter installed at their property which we can connect to, and who are eligible to receive (and subsequently take and agree to the terms of) the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff; and is only available to people who have an EV charger installed at their place of residence and are able to charge their EV from home.

During the sign up process for the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff, Octopus will confirm whether you are eligible to join the tariff.

To benefit from the Offer, you'll need to be a new or existing customer of Octopus Energy Intelligent Octopus Go tariff. You will not be eligible for the Offer if you sign up via a third party like a price comparison site.

Verifying your eligibility

In order to evidence your eligibility, at https://renault.octopus.energy you will need to provide to us the promotional code received from Renault when ordering your Qualifying Vehicle. You'll find your unique promotional code on the email received from Renault when you ordered your Qualifying Vehicle.

We will then confirm whether the code is a bona fide promotional code through which you can benefit from the Offer with Renault. You hereby confirm and agree that we may share and receive this data with/from Renault as required for the purposes of providing this offer to you and validating your participation.

If you have successfully been approved to participate in the Offer, the Credit will be provided to your Octopus Energy account within 30 days of your Qualifying Vehicle’s delivery date, provided that you have first become an Octopus Energy customer signed up to the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff, and the first direct debit payment has been taken on your Octopus account.

If there is any delay in the validation process, provided you have made the first direct debit payment, the credit will be applied to your account on the later of 30 days following your vehicle delivery date or the date of validation. In the event of a delayed validation, you may have to pay for your initial charging events, but you will still receive one year free charge from the point of validation.

You have until 23:59 31st August 2025 to submit your promotional code at https://renault.octopus.energy and complete your tariff switch to Intelligent Octopus Go.

How does it work?

First, we calculate the car's efficiency by dividing the usable battery size by the ‘real world' range. Predicting exact range is tricky, and range will depend on speed, style of driving, weather conditions and route condition.

The Renault Scenic E-Tech 100% electric long range efficiency takes a usable battery size of 87 (kWh), and then divides it by a real world range of 379 (miles). That equals 0.230 kWh/mile.

The Renault Scenic E-Tech 100% electric comfort range efficiency takes a usable battery size of 60 (kWh), and then divides it by a real world range of 260 (miles). That equals 0.231 kWh/mile.

The Renault Megane E-Tech 100% electric efficiency takes a usable battery size of 60 (kWh), and then divides it by a real world range of 280 (miles). That equals 0.214 kWh/mile.

We then multiply this by 10,000 annual mileage and by the Intelligent Octopus Go off-peak energy rate. It is assumed, for the purposes of calculating the Credit value, that you will only charge your car at home during the Intelligent Octopus Go off-peak window (this is currently from 23:30-5.30) or during the times that we start smart charging your car at this off-peak rate.

Illustrative example for a Renault Scenic E-Tech 100% electric long range on the Octopus Intelligent Go tariff

  • 0.230 kWh/mile (Car's energy efficiency) x 10,000 (miles/year) = 2,300 kWh
  • 2,300 kWh x 7pence (price of energy per kWh) = £161 (charging costs per year)

Illustrative example for a Renault Scenic E-Tech 100% electric comfort range on the Octopus Intelligent Go tariff

  • 0.231 kWh/mile (Car's energy efficiency) x 10,000 (miles/year) = 2,310 kWh
  • 2,310 kWh x 7 pence (price of energy per kWh) = £162 (charging costs per year)

Illustrative example for a Renault Megane E-Tech 100% electric on the Octopus Intelligent Go tariff

  • 0.214 kWh/mile (Car's energy efficiency) x 10,000 (miles/year) = 2,140 kWh
  • 2,140 kWh x 7 pence (price of energy per kWh) = £150 (charging costs per year)

Your free miles translates into a fixed credit amount which will be paid onto your Octopus account once your vehicle has been delivered and your first direct debit has been taken.

10,000 miles worth of credit equates to a £162 credit, based on the Renault Scenic E-Tech 100% electric comfort range example above.

To note

  • The Credit as applied to your Octopus account will reflect our estimate of the cost of charging during the Intelligent Octopus Go off-peak/smart charging period only and using the current Intelligent Octopus Go rates.
  • We will provide the Credit as a one-off account credit on your electricity account and only once you’ve successfully switched to the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff, made your first direct debit payment, and had your EV delivered. Please note that switching to the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff may take some time, and will depend on whether you are already an Octopus Energy customer, and whether you already have a smart meter installed.
    • If during the process it is discovered that it is not feasible for you to have a compatible smart meter installed which means you are not able to switch to the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff, we will provide you with the amount of credit offered as if you had switched to this tariff, on your Octopus Energy electricity account. The credit amount will be £162.
  • If the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff rate changes, your credit will remain the same, but the cost to charge your EV will vary.
  • Mileage figures shown above are based on WLTP test data. Actual real world driving results may vary depending on factors including the starting charge of the battery, accessories fitted after registration, weather conditions, driving styles and vehicle load.
