Watt a Save: terms and conditions


These Terms and Conditions (the “T&Cs”) apply to Watt a Save, a promotion run by Octopus Energy for Business that gives eligible pubs and bars in Great Britain free electricity during selected FIFA World Cup 2026 match days (“Watt a Save”, the “Promotion”). By opting in to and participating in Watt a Save, you agree to be bound by these T&Cs.


  1. Watt a Save is run by Octopus Energy Group Limited, a company registered in England and Wales with registered number 09718624 and registered office UK House, 5th Floor, 164-182 Oxford Street, London, W1D 1NN (“Octopus Energy”, “we”, “us”, “our”).


  2. These T&Cs, together with any communications with you relating to Watt a Save, are the terms that apply to Watt a Save.


  3. In the event of any dispute regarding any aspect of Watt a Save, the decision of Octopus Energy for Business shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into.


  4. These Watt a Save T&Cs are separate to the terms governing your supply of gas and electricity that you have with Octopus Energy Limited or Octopus Energy Operations Limited (together being “Octopus Energy Supply”), and will not affect your rights and obligations under those terms.


  5. To participate in Watt a Save, you must:

    1. be supplied with electricity by Octopus Energy for Business;

    2. have a business premises located in England, Scotland or Wales;

    3. operate as your primary business activity an active, physical pub or bar;

    4. hold a valid Premises Licence permitting on-site alcohol sales;

    5. have a working electricity meter that sends us automatic reading (Smart Meter or AMR.


  6. Temporary Event Notices (TENs), temporary licences and temporary venues are not eligible.


  7. Watt a Save is open to existing Octopus Energy for Business customers, provided that the customer is under supply by us before the relevant Promotion Day in order to receive a credit for that Promotion Day.


  8. For the purposes of this Promotion, a pub or bar means a business operating from a physical premises in Great Britain whose primary business activity is classified under a relevant UK Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code associated with public houses, bars or licensed drinking establishments.


  9. We may use Companies House records, SIC codes, licensing information and any other information reasonably available to us to determine eligibility for the Promotion.


  10. We reserve the right to request evidence reasonably required to verify eligibility.


  11. Eligible customers will receive a bill credit equivalent to the cost of electricity consumed between 19:00 and 00:00 on each qualifying England and Scotland match Promotion Day occurring on or after the date they successfully opt in to Watt a Save. Credits will not be applied for any Promotion Days that occurred before the customer opted in.


  12. A Promotion Day refers to any day on which England and/or Scotland play a match during the FIFA World Cup 2026 tournament.


  13. If a match involving England or Scotland kicks off or takes place between 00:00 and 06:00 UK time, the Promotion Day will be treated as the preceding calendar day and the free electricity period will apply between 19:00 and 00:00 on that preceding day.


  14. The Promotion starts on 11 June 2026 and applies to all England and Scotland matches during the FIFA World Cup 2026 tournament, including knockout-stage matches. The Promotion will end on 19th July 2026.


  15. If England and Scotland both play on the same day, only one free electricity period will apply.


  16. Customers will continue to be billed in accordance with their current contract.


  17. We will calculate the credit using smart meter consumption data for the period between 19:00 and 00:00 on the relevant Promotion Day.


  18. The credit will be based on the electricity unit rates applicable during the relevant Promotion Day, as set out in your electricity supply contract with Octopus Energy for Business.


  19. The credit will include eligible electricity consumption charges and the applicable standing charge for the relevant Promotion Day. Taxes, levies, and any other charges that are not included within your electricity unit rates or standing charge remain payable.


  20. Credits are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.


  21. Where fewer than eight weeks of smart meter data are available, we may use an alternative reasonable methodology to determine an appropriate usage benchmark.


  22. If we reasonably believe electricity consumption has been artificially increased or manipulated in order to obtain a larger credit, we may reduce, withhold or recover any credit.


  23. You must maintain a communicating smart meter capable of providing half-hourly electricity consumption data throughout the Promotion.


  24. We may amend, suspend or withdraw Watt a Save at any time where we deem it necessary, including where fixtures are postponed, rescheduled or cancelled, or for operational, technical, legal or regulatory reasons.


  25. We reserve the right to exclude customers who at any time during the Promotion do not meet the eligibility requirements.


  26. Any credits applied in error may be removed from your account.


  27. Our decisions regarding eligibility, consumption calculations and credits are final.


  28. We reserve the right to exclude customers from Watt a Save where we deem their account to be in debt or otherwise not in good standing.
