We’ve just launched the Intelligent Drive Pack – a brand new subscription add-on for EV drivers in the UK. For just £30 a month, you can unlock unlimited scheduled smart charging for your electric car at home.
That’s right: all the miles you need, smartly scheduled by Octopus, for less than the cost of a meal out.
Why we launched it
We believe the switch to electric driving should be easy, affordable, and accessible for everyone – and you shouldn't need loads of fancy tech or to crunch numbers on a spreadsheet. Until now, cheap EV charging has mainly been available through intricate smart tariffs for the whole house, or clever home setups. But we wanted to open that up.
So we created the Intelligent Drive Pack – a simple add-on for customers on selected standard Octopus tariffs. It’s a whole new way to charge that puts value, simplicity and flexibility in the driver’s seat.
Fancy endless cruising? All you need is:
- A working smart meter
- A compatible EV (we support nearly 280 models)
- A home charger

How it works
- Sign up and connect online
- You pick a 'ready by' time between 4am and 11am, on the Octopus App.
- We schedule your charging to use the greenest, cheapest energy available – usually overnight.
- We make sure your car is charged and ready whenever you need it.
That’s it. All covered by your £30 monthly fee.
Need to top up outside those scheduled times? You can still boost your charge manually through the app and just pay your normal home electricity rate for that extra energy.
It’s so much cheaper than petrol
Based on some of the most popular cars and average fuel prices in the UK according to RAC, it currently costs around £69 to fill up a tank of gas in a 'gas guzzler'. Drivers can make huge fuel savings by switching to EV and charging with Intelligent Drive Pack - typically, EV drivers pay only 41% of what petrol car owners typically spend each month!
