Octopus customers used over £3.6 million of free electricity in 2025

Free Electricity is now over, but check out our new Weekend Happy Hours campaign, which gives you free power at the weekend if you use less during weekday tea times.
We love our community, so we're leaving this page up as a monument to the fun you all had with Free Electricity (and the amazing messages you sent us proving it).
Customers like you did millions of loads of washing, hoovering sessions and brews for free in 2025. We hope you'll do millions more in 2026 with Happy Hours!
Sharing the love with those who need it most
Thanks to #FreeElectricity, we shared £30,000 of good energy with eight incredible charities working hard to bring care, comfort, and connection to their communities. From keeping people experiencing homelessness and their pets together with Dogs on the Streets, to turning surplus food into community meals with FoodCycle, and helping young people look after their mental health with YoungMinds.
We’ve supported Candlelighters, bringing light and care to families facing childhood cancer; Newbury Soup Kitchen, offering food and friendship to those in need; Inverbrothock Out of School Care Club, giving children a safe space to learn and play; Therapy Dogs Nationwide, spreading calm and comfort through their amazing four-legged volunteers; and Alzheimer’s Society, supporting people living with dementia and those who care for them.
Together, we’ve proven that when energy is shared freely, it can power so much more than just electricity — it powers kindness. ⚡💖

Funnily enough, the day after we shared the news of the donation with Therapy Dogs, Eileen Slattery —their Co-Founder— spotted an Octopus stand while out on her visit with her therapy dog, Spartacus. She couldn’t resist stopping for a photo to say another big thank you from both of them!
But this is not all, we gave you the chance to donate your earnings to the Octopus Assist fund, devoted to helping customer most in need to keep warm without worrying. We told you that if your total donations reached £50,000, we'd contribute £50,000 to match it. And again you passed our expectations. More than 30k of you donated some (or all!) of your Free Electricity earnings, making a total of £66,500! Thank to your generosity we're contributing to the Octo Assist fund with £116,500 which we'll make a difference to many families struggling to stay warm this winter.
We gave away a Ford Puma Gen-E Premium electric vehicle worth £35,000!
