Joe Richardson leads our 2,500-strong UK Operations team, the engine room dedicated to taking outrageously good care of our customers and managing every aspect of their energy accounts.

Under his watch, Octopus has more than doubled in size to become the UK's largest electricity supplier, smoothly welcoming millions of new customers from Bulb and Shell Energy, while winning 9 consecutive Which? Recommended awards.

Today, Joe’s main mission is keeping things simple and seamless for customers as the energy world evolves. Whether households are adopting smart tariffs or rolling out low-carbon tech like EVs, heat pumps and solar panels, his team ensures our day-to-day operations are as cutting-edge as our technology.

Joe brings over two decades of top-tier strategic and operational expertise to Octopus. Before diving into the energy sector, he spent five years driving Strategy and Operations at Google and a decade as a strategy consultant at Bain & Company.

He's a regular runner of anything from 5k to marathons and can often be found running to work to avoid the bus and Tube.
