Wow. Just… wow! A wrap on the Energy Tech Summit 2026

Post-Tech Summit and the team is currently face-down in content. We captured so many videos, pictures and thoughts from customers on Monday that our laptops are practically sweating.

I’m Jas from the Marketing team. Monday was my first-ever Octopus event, and let me tell you, the energy was absolutely electric!

This wasn’t just Octopus Energy’s biggest Energy Tech Summit ever, it was the biggest energy event in Europe, and the crown jewel of London Climate Action Week.

The highlights

(or, how we spent our casual heatwave Monday)

A big energy venue

We packed out a 4,000-capacity venue in Battersea. To celebrate, we parked a giant wind turbine right outside, giving the iconic Power Station chimneys a serious run for their money.

Did you see Fanboy Slim outside the event? Fun fact: customers voted to give it that name!

Global minds panels

We hosted customers, scientists, inventors, policymakers and self-proclaimed energy nerds from across the globe.

The hot topics?

  • The rise of AI

  • How trust has become a vital commodity in the misinformation era

  • How we make energy cheaper, more secure, and ditch fossil fuels for good

(Spoiler: the time is now!)

Out-of-this world speakers

We heard from astronaut Tim Peake, who casually mentioned that repairing solar panels in space was the easy part. We also shared the stage with fellow change-makers, climate leaders, and tech pioneers like Jimmy Wales, Hannah Fry, John Kerry, and Richard Osman (what a line-up!)

EV plushie giveaway madness

We gave away a brand-new EV stuffed with exactly 1,132 Constantine plushies.

Hands-on tech

On the exhibition floor, customers explored our low-carbon technologies, including heat pumps and EV chargers, while our scientists demonstrated EV battery strip-downs, giving guests a hands-on look at the future of clean technology.

Good energy vibes only

We wrapped up the scorching day with flowing bubbles, brilliant food and a live band that made a Monday night feel like a peak-summer festival.

Two massive announcements you might have missed

If you couldn't make it our Energy Tech Summit, don’t worry — we didn’t just talk about the future of energy; we actually announced the tools to build it.

Here are the two industry-changing secrets we finally let out of the bag:

Meet Octopus Nook: The home battery built for everyone (coming in 2027)

We officially announced our very own upcoming range of home batteries called Octopus Nook. Landing next year, these are designed to help you store cheap, clean energy when prices are low and use it later when grid prices spike to unlock much lower bills.

Because we believe clean tech shouldn't just be for people who own their own house, we're launching two distinct versions in 2027:

Pink electronic device in a lush green setting, surrounded by artificial plants under purple lighting.
The Nook Cube

For renters and apartment dwellers

It’s a compact, shoebox-sized battery that you literally just plug right into a standard wall socket. No engineers required, and you can even stack them if you need more storage.

The Nook Colossus

For homeowners

This is a larger, wall-mounted system designed to handle the energy needs of bigger households.

Both systems will work incredibly nicely with solar panels, come with a 12-year warranty, and are officially arriving in the UK and Europe next year!

Octopus and CATL Launch "Swaptopus" to revolutionise electric trucking

In case you missed the headline announcement from the summit, we are partnering with CATL (the world’s largest battery manufacturer) to launch a major joint venture called "Swaptopus".

The goal?

Deploying ultra-fast battery-swapping tech for heavy-goods vehicles across Europe.

Why it matters?

Instead of waiting hours to charge, electric trucks will be able to swap a depleted battery for a full one in just minutes, matching the speed of diesel refueling and completely solving the biggest barrier to green logistics.

The Roadmap

2027: The first UK mega-hubs go live.

2035: Expanding to 30+ European hubs, supporting over 300,000 electric trucks.

The Scale

The project is expected to unlock £30 billion in private investment. Plus, using our Kraken software, these hubs will double as virtual power plants to support the energy grid when it needs it most.

The big takeaway

The absolute best part of the day

Realising just how much our customers love this journey as much as we do. Hearing you spread the Octo-love was incredibly special. It’s a massive reminder that the work we do makes a genuine difference.

Our mascot Constantine was out and about all day, posing for photos, octo-selfies and soaking up plenty of love from visitors. (And yes, there was a tiny fan hidden inside to help keep our wonderful team cool!)

And that's a wrap

On one of the hottest June days on record, we can all agree on one thing: the future is clean energy!

Until next year, we’ll keep innovating, putting you first, and taking on the energy crisis together.
