Octopus Energy opens up new office in Birmingham

  • Fast-growth disruptor opens its first office in Birmingham
  • The company vows to create at least 40 new green jobs in the next year
  • The new site will be a dedicated sales office for the company

Birmingham, March 17th 2020 - Today, Octopus Energy, the fastest growing private company in the UK, has set its sights on Birmingham for its next new regional office. The new office will be situated in Imperial and Whitehall at 23 Colmore Row, and has agreed a three-year lease with landlord Hortons’ Estate Limited.

Following successful launches and expansions in London, Brighton, Leicester, Warwick, Newcastle and Manchester, the company - which supplies over 2 million households across the country - has chosen Birmingham as one of the locations for its new dedicated sales offices, where agents will provide potential customers with advice on switching and products.

Along with the new office, the green energy supplier is committing to create 40 new green jobs in total for the city in 2021. The expansion into Birmingham is part of Octopus Energy’s wider plan to create 1,000 new green jobs in the UK by the end of this year to help the country build back greener after the pandemic - an announcement both the Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the Chancellor Rishi Sunak endorsed last October.

Octopus Energy grew considerably in 2020, with new offices opening in Manchester and Newcastle, office expansions in Brighton and London, and successful launches in the US, Australia, New Zealand and Germany. New hires will be part of a global team that strives to accelerate the green energy transition around the world, bringing cleaner and cheaper energy and better customer service to everybody.

Neil Woolley, Director at Octopus Energy, comments: “We’re so excited to be bringing loads more green jobs to Birmingham through our new dedicated sales office. Birmingham will become a hub for training up our staff to spread the word about cheap green power, and get more and more people to join in the renewable energy revolution.”
