Plugged in: One million Brits now charge their electric cars with ONE app – and it works from Land's End to Los Angeles
Octopus Electroverse has hit ONE MILLION UK drivers – that’s half of all electric cars on Britain's roads
The app unlocks 9 in 10 public chargers across Europe, and is the only one that also works across the pond
Drivers can bag cut-price charging through ‘Plunge Pricing’ – cheap top-ups when green energy is plentiful
Lets businesses cut down on cost and paperwork through Octopus Fleet, with thousands signed up since launching late in 2025
London, 30th July 2026 – A whopping ONE MILLION drivers have now signed up to Octopus Electroverse, Europe's largest EV charging platform – meaning half of all fully electric cars on UK roads are now plugged into the popular app.
The milestone comes as more and more drivers ditch diesel and petrol for electric. One in three new cars registered in June were fully electric, according to latest industry figures.*
Electroverse lets drivers tap into the world's biggest public charging network using just a single app and card – no more juggling half a dozen different accounts and subscriptions just to top up the battery.
Drivers can now use it to access 9 out of 10 public chargers across Europe, whether they are nipping to the shops, driving up to Scotland or road tripping through France.
And it’s the only service of its kind that also works across the Atlantic, with more than 200,000 public charge points already available across North America – and thousands more on the way before the end of the year.
But Electroverse isn't just about convenience – it's helping drivers save money too.
Through what’s called ‘Plunge Pricing’, drivers can grab discounted charging sessions when there is a lot of renewable electricity but not much demand for it. It means green power that would otherwise go to waste is used up, while easing pressure on the grid putting money back in driver’s pockets.
Electroverse has run 84 of these cut-price sessions across the UK and France this year, helping thousands of drivers charge at up to a 50% discount while supporting a smarter, greener energy system.
And it’s not just everyday drivers cashing in. Businesses switching their vans and company cars to electric can also turn to Electroverse. Its Octopus Fleet service - which already has thousands of businesses signed up - lets companies manage public charging and home charging for their whole fleet through one simple platform, cutting down on paperwork and keeping costs under control.
Matt Davies, Founder & Director of Octopus Electroverse, said: "Reaching one million drivers is an incredible milestone and shows just how far electric driving has come.
“Not long ago, charging away from home could feel complicated. Today, hundreds of thousands of charging sessions happen through Electroverse every week, with drivers able to access chargers across the UK, Europe and the US through a single app.
"As more people switch to electric, our focus is making charging effortless and affordable. Whether that's giving drivers access to almost every charger they'll ever need, unlocking discounted charging, or helping businesses electrify their fleets, we're removing the barriers so drivers can simply enjoy the journey."
Octopus Electroverse provides access to more than 1.5 million public charge points across Europe through a single app and card, making it Europe's largest EV charging platform. In Germany, it covers close to 100% of the country's public charging network, giving drivers one of the simplest ways to charge on the move.
