An EV charged on Intelligent Octopus Go could save you £100s on your fuel costs vs a petrol car.

Save up to 85% vs public charging when you power up at home with Intelligent Octopus Go.

A slow or fast charge (<50 kWh) with one of the UK’s public charging points costs an EV driver 54p/kWh on average (last checked June 2026). With Intelligent Octopus Go, you smart charge from only 8p/kWh and could save 85%.

1 - 8/54 = 0.85 or 85%

Charge for up to 69% less than average price cap rates.

With Intelligent Octopus Go, you can smart charge eligible cars from only 8p/kWh. The average electricity unit rate of a standard variable tariff, based on the July 2026 Ofgem energy price cap for customers paying by direct debit, is 26.11p/kWh. This represents a saving of 69% compared to the average price cap unit rate (1- 8/26.11 = 0.69 or 69%).

Please note that savings apply to unit rates only and exclude standing charges. Standard variable rates vary by region, so your actual percentage saving may vary depending on where you live. Check the price cap for your region here.

The UK's most popular EV tariff

In their latest State of the market report, Ofgem shared that 653k domestic customers were on a Smart Time of Use EV tariff in July 2025. More than half were with Octopus, and the majority of them charged with Intelligent Octopus Go.

Last year, our customers typically saved £771 compared to our standard tariff

Over the last year (May 2025 to April 2026), customers on our fixed Intelligent Octopus Go tariff typically saved £771 compared to our standard variable tariff, Flexible Octopus. Calculations are based on comparing actual half-hourly consumption and costs on Intelligent Octopus Go against the costs the customer would have incurred for that same consumption on our Flexible Octopus tariff.

Savings for individual homes vary based on how much electricity you use for your house and EV, and how much you shift towards off-peak hours. Get a quote to compare your rates.

Trusted and recommended by thousands of happy customers

Based on feedback from 4,427 customers who had an EV charger installed between 25th January and 24th March 2026, 81% gave a 9 or 10 rating when asked how likely they were to recommend us to friends or family (on a scale of 1–10).

We've built Octopus Charge for a simple, easy-to-use EV charging experience that doesn't compromise on performance. Simply plug in and relax, your EV will automatically charge when electricity is cheapest and greenest, maximising your savings on our Intelligent Octopus Go, or Drive Pack tariffs.

If you have solar panels, the Octopus Charge uses the electricity you generate to power your EV when your home doesn't need it, helping you make the most of your renewable energy.

We’re building out a whole ecosystem that works together. Getting your EV charger built, installed AND powered by us means everything connects seamlessly (kind of like how an iPhone works so well with a Macbook and iCloud account).

The same team who designed and built our EV charger, train our engineers to install it so they know the tech inside and out. Our engineers work hands-on with the kit every day, and our support specialists speak to customers daily – so they can quickly feed back to the designers, speeding up updates and remote feature improvements.

Octopus Charge is designed, installed and supported entirely by Octopus, with no third parties involved. You'll deal with us directly for all your EV needs – including charger installation, getting set up on our smart tariffs, managing your charging through the Octopus Energy app and tech support if you need it.

We’ll also keep your Octopus Charge updated with the latest software and features over time, just like a smartphone. It's charging that actually gets better with age.

There are two different versions of Octopus Charge. Untethered without a charging cable £1029, and Tethered with a 5m charging cable £1129. Both prices include standard installation.

It takes around 4 weeks on average to get a charger installed. However in some areas it can take a little longer. Our EV team will work with you to find a date that works for you.

Octopus charge can detect when your home is exporting electricity to the grid. You can set the charger to charge your EV, when it’s plugged in, and there is more than 6 amps of power available. Most people with solar panels export their excess solar back to the grid or charge their home battery.

Yes, Octopus Charge comes with a 3 year warranty, providing peace of mind for years to come.

There is also an option to extend the warranty to 5 years for £79.
