Smart meters are the next generation of metering technology. We're only installing the latest generation of smart meters, also known as SMETS2 smart meters. Not only do they save the hassle of giving monthly meter reads, they could save you money! No more estimated bills, and access to all of our most innovative tariffs.
We release thousands of new appointments every week.
Once you've registered your interest, we'll send you an email when we have appointments available in your area (and don't worry, we won't inundate you with emails).
You can also head to your online account to get booked in - you'll just need to choose a date and time that works for you and we'll sort the rest.
Although smart meters will work in most properties, there are a few factors that may mean we can't install one for you just yet:
If you live in a flat with one meter in your home, and the other meter some distance away, i.e. in a communal area. Side note: in most cases an In-Home Display (IHD, the small device that comes with a smart meter install), may not work if it's more over 5 metres distance from your electricity meter.
If your home does not have a strong enough signal to connect to the smart meter network (WAN). General rule of thumb is if you have a good mobile signal, you'll have good WAN coverage.
If you have a complex meter set up (such as a 3 phase meter)
If you have a SMETS1 meter (the first generation of smart meters), it doesn't need to be upgraded to SMETS2. Both are great pieces of tech and we are expecting SMETS1 meters to be upgraded remotely to the SMETS2 systems (with no engineer visit required) this year.
If you're wondering whether this applies to your home, please get in touch and we'll be able to confirm either way. If you're not a customer of ours yet, just ask your current supplier.
