Our customers ask us on an almost daily basis how they can support people who are struggling with their energy costs. That’s why at the beginning of the energy crisis we set up the A Little Change tool. Simply select how much you’d like to donate each month and we’ll take it off your bill. The impact of your donation
Your donation will be split between National Energy Action, who work to combat fuel poverty in the UK; Citizens Advice, who offer free, impartial advice on everything from consumer rights to debt, energy and housing; and Renewable World, who improve access to clean energy in communities in Kenya and Nepal.
NEA - Action for warmer homes

We should all be able to keep warm and healthy at home, but millions of people are struggling to afford the energy they need to do so. Each year around 10,000 people die as a result of living in a cold home. Cold homes can also cause or worsen a range of serious health conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, bronchitis, and asthma; can have a significant impact on mental health and is a known risk factor for suicide. National Energy Action (NEA) works towards eradicating fuel poverty across the UK and enables millions of people to live in a warm home.
These donations have an incredible impact on the work we deliver at NEA and the people we support. It means more people struggling in cold, unsafe and unhealthy homes are able to live without the worry of how they will afford to stay warm at home.
The funds also enable us to respond to crisis situations, so we can provide people with immediate and practical support through hardship funds.
Through the generous donations we receive we have been able to:
Provide life-changing advice and information to thousands of vulnerable people
Secured millions in financial benefits to clients through income maximisation and welfare support
Educated thousands of school children on energy efficiency
Given millions of direct financial benefit to clients secured through energy advice, crisis fund and fuel debt support.

Citizens Advice

Since 1939, Citizens Advice has been helping to build a society that’s fairer for everyone - working on issues that affect the whole of society. The Citizens Advice network of independent charities offers free, confidential, impartial and expert advice on everything from consumer rights to debt, energy and housing.
They help millions of people every year - online, over the phone and face-to-face - and believe that nobody should have to face their problems without good quality, independent advice. They give people the knowledge and confidence they need to find a way forward - whoever they are, and whatever their problem.
In 2024/25 Citizens Advice helped 2.71 million people with one-to-one advice, and 8 in 10 people said they would recommend the service.
Citizens Advice uses Octopus customer donations to support their national response to the cost-of-living crisis. This includes:
supporting Adviceline, their nationally-supported helpline service; often the first point-of-contact for someone facing unthinkable hardship
contributing to caseworker support, for people who need more in-depth help
developing and updating their online advice content for people who can help themselves
Jason* is in his 30s with a young family. Just before his daughter was born, he was laid off unexpectedly from the job he loved. Losing his job was financially devastating. Instead of looking forward to the birth of their baby, Jason and his wife felt overwhelmed with worry about how they would afford their rent, food and essential household bills.
At breaking point, Jason contacted Citizens Advice. We provided him with advice on employment, benefits, and energy bills. We also supported him with food bank referrals, fuel vouchers and applying for a grant to help buy a new washing machine.
Things are still tough, but the support from Citizens Advice has given the family some breathing space.
"Citizens Advice were the only ones who helped me. Without their help, we probably wouldn’t even have a house to live in. I can’t thank them enough for what they’ve done for me.”
We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support of Octopus and its customers, which has helped us provide expert advice and practical support to thousands of people since 2022. The donations from Octopus customers have been, and will continue to be, used in the most impactful ways possible, focussing on the areas of greatest need.
Renewable World
Registered charity Number: 1119467
Renewable World transforms lives in Kenya and Nepal, by providing communities in poverty with access to clean energy and sustainable solutions. Since 2007, they have helped over 220,000 people access and utilise clean energy to improve lives whilst mitigating climate change.
Renewable World works alongside communities in Nepal and Kenya to develop solutions that meet their unique needs, whether that's improving livelihoods, increasing access to safe water, or helping people prepare for climate-related disasters.
In rural Kenya, Renewable World has installed solar power for 19 remote health facilities, providing reliable electricity and vaccine refrigeration, so doctors have been able to provide 24-hour care to nearly 52,000 people. Watch the video below to learn more.
By sharing skills, providing practical support, and partnering with local organisations and governments, the charity works to ensure solutions like these continue to deliver benefits long into the future.
Octopus have partnered with Renewable World since 2018, enabling them to reach thousands more people. With your Little Change donation, they can continue to work on projects such as these to strengthen livelihoods, support climate resilience,and protect biodiversity for years to come.
Update on Nepal floods
Following the devastating flash floods of August 2026, Renewable World have re-directed some of their support and funding to the areas of Nepal in crisis, particularly from their E4WASH project in Sindhupalchok. We will update with further details when we receive them.
Renewable World has provided Kalpana and her community with access to clean energy and safe water for drinking, sanitation, and agriculture.
Thanks to the new solar-powered water supply, Kalpana can now irrigate her crops for the first time, and with the training provided, she has improved her vegetable production and learned how to manage pests without harmful chemical pesticides.
She is now farming more sustainably and earning more income through selling tomatoes at the local market.
Kalpana’s story is just one of many from across our projects this year - stories of individuals and communities empowered, whose lives and livelihoods have been transformed through clean energy. These stories serve as a powerful reminder of the lasting impact and legacy of your support.
