Solar Sharing terms and conditions
These Terms and Conditions apply to Octopus Energy Solar Sharing (the “Solar Sharing”).
By entering Solar Sharing, you agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions.
Introduction
1. Solar Sharing will be run by Octopus Energy Limited, a company registered in
England and Wales with registered number 09263424 and registered office UK
House, 5th Floor, 164-182 Oxford St, London W1D 1NN (“Octopus Energy”, “we”,
“us”).
2. These terms and conditions, together with any specific rules set out in any
communications relating to Solar Sharing, are the rules (“Rules”) and apply to Solar
Sharing. By entering Solar Sharing, you are agreeing to be bound by these Rules
and any other applicable instructions we provide to you.
3. Octopus Energy reserves the right to cancel or amend Solar Sharing and/or the
Rules without prior notice. Any changes will be posted on our website at
octopus.energy/solar-sharing .
4. In the event of any dispute regarding any aspect of Solar Sharing, the decision of
Octopus Energy shall be final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
5. These Solar Sharing terms and conditions are separate and in addition to the terms
and conditions for the supply of gas and electricity that you will have with Octopus
Energy and will not affect your rights and obligations under those terms.
Solar Sharing Participation
6. Entrants must be 18 or over. Only residents of Great Britain are eligible to sign up to
Octopus Energy and take part in the Solar Sharing.
7. You are responsible for ensuring that all information provided to us for the purposes
of participating in Solar Sharing is accurate and up-to-date. If there are any changes
to your details, please inform us as soon as possible.
8. To be eligible for Solar Sharing you must:
a. at all times comply with these Terms & Conditions
b. be a current electricity customer of Octopus Energy
c. have working solar panels installed
d. have an export MPAN
e. be signed up to a compatible Octopus Energy export tariff (our Zero Bills,
Powerloop, Tesla, Flux, IO-Flux and Feed-in-Tariffs (FiT) are all currently
incompatible with Solar Sharing).
f. have a working electricity smart meter which has been sending us meter
readings on a half hourly basis at least 80% of the time for the last
consecutive 20 days at the date we assess your application
g. register for Solar Sharing by completing the form on the Solar Sharing landing
page at octopus.energy/solar-sharing
h. have consented to, and not remove your consent to, giving us half-hourly
meter reads
9. Your agreed charity will be effective from the 1st day of the next month from when
you select your charity.
10. If you change your agreed upon charity, that change will be effective from the 1st day
of the following month.
11. In the event that we’re unable to pull your meter readings to calculate your usage,
we’ll assume that you didn’t export any energy.
12. If at any point throughout Solar Sharing you are no longer eligible under paragraph 8,
or if your smart meter becomes disconnected, or you move house, we reserve the
right to remove you from Solar Sharing. We will notify you of the removal and the
reasons for it. If you think we have removed you in error, you can contact us.
13. If you are on one of our Smart Tariffs or take part in any of our Smart Meter trials, we
reserve the right to remove you from Solar Sharing at any point if your tariff is no
longer compatible with Solar Sharing.
14. Octopus Energy will not be liable to reimburse any expenses incurred by you for
taking part in Solar Sharing, and we will not be liable for any indirect, consequential,
or incidental losses or damages arising from your participation in Solar Sharing,
except as required by law.
15. If at any point you wish to opt-out of Solar Sharing, please email
agile@octopus.energy and we will remove you. Please allow a minimum of 14
business days from sending your opt-out email for our records to be updated.
16. By taking part in Solar Sharing, you agree to relinquish any claim to the earnings
generated from your excess solar energy from the 1 st of each month you are signed
up to Solar Sharing.
Data Protection
17. Octopus Energy will process all personal data in accordance with GDPR
requirements and in line with our privacy policy, which can be found on our website
at http://octopus.energy/privacy.
18. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any
disputes arising under these terms and conditions will be subject to the exclusive
jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
