Class act: Octopus Energy founder Greg Jackson goes from Question Time to Year Nine (and other year groups)

  • Octopus chief aims to inspire the next generation of green heroes just a week after appearing on prestigious BBC debate show
  • Jackson to host three virtual sessions this week for thousands of primary and secondary students across the UK and Northern Ireland
  • Students will learn about renewable energy, sustainability, and climate change, with interactive activities, quizzes, and prizes

London, Wednesday 20th November - Octopus Energy Founder Greg Jackson is taking his passion for renewable energy to the classroom.

Thousands of primary and secondary students across the UK and Northern Ireland can engage with Greg on sustainability, renewable energy, and the future of the planet.

The sessions were organised after a flood of requests from schools and parents for Greg to host a lesson – and come just days after his well-received appearance on BBC1’s Question Time.

Students will get to explore key topics like renewable sources of energy, the grid, climate change, energy efficiency and how schools can become net zero.

Greg – who left school at 16 to code computer games before returning to full time education to study economics at Cambridge – will also answer questions and participate in activities designed to inspire the next generation of green heroes.

The sessions will include quizzes, prizes, and even appearances by Constantine, Octopus Energy’s beloved mascot, to keep things fun and educational.

All the sessions are carried out via Zoom and free to take part in, students will only need a notebook and a pen for the entire session.

Greg Jackson, Founder of Octopus Energy, comments: "Climate change is the biggest challenge of our lifetime, and it requires more than one generation to tackle it. I’ve seen young people consistently come up with innovative solutions to problems that previous generations have grappled with. With these lessons, we aim to spark curiosity and show how they can drive the change we need. And I’m sure their questions will be every bit as challenging as the ones on Question Time."
