Came over from Iresa on a prepayment meter?
If you were a prepayment (PAYG) customer with Iresa, here’s the lowdown on how your energy supply will be affected by the switch to Octopus.
We’ve kept it pretty simple. Almost everything stays the same, from your top up locations, to your keys and cards, to your energy tariff.

Where can I top up?
You can continue topping up at any Paypoint, at the same locations you always have with Iresa.
Do I use the same keys and cards?
For now, you can keep using the same key and card to top up.
We’ll issue you a new Octopus Energy key and card around October.
What do I do if I lose my top-up key or card?
Just give our team a ring on 0808 164 1088 and we’ll arrange a replacement for you. This may incur a charge.
What are my energy rates now I’m with Octopus?
For now, your tariff is the same as it was with Iresa. The energy regulator Ofgem releases new prices for prepayment meters every April and October. When we know what these are, we’ll contact you with new tariff details.
Are the non-disconnection, or Friendly Credit times, different with Octopus?
These are the times each day we’ll ensure your power is never disconnected, even if your meter runs out of credit. They’re a little different between Iresa and Octopus.
With us, you’ll never lose power if your meter runs out of credit between 4pm and 10am weekdays, all weekend, and public holidays.
Iresa’s non-disconnection hours were 8pm to 8am weekdays, and weekends.
What happens if I’ve got no supply?
If your power goes off, head to the nearest Paypoint and top as normal using your usual key or card.
If your power won’t come back on, and you get an error message on your meter display, please call us right away on 0808 164 1088. Outside of these hours, just email email@example.com or message us on Facebook or Twitter- we work till 10pm, 7 days a week.
