How do I refer my friends or family?

Thanks for helping to spread the green-tech love! If you've had a heat pump or solar power installed by Octopus, or if you're still in the process, you'll be eligible for our referral reward.

Once you’ve signed your final sales agreement (before we book your installation), we’ll send over your unique referral code.

To refer a friend or family member for a heat pump or solar installation, simply share your unique referral code with them, and ask them to provide this to their solar or heat pump specialist at any point before their final sales agreement is signed.

Once they’ve signed their final sales agreement, we’ll issue the energy credit or Giftpay voucher to you, and take the discount off their final installation cost.

And that’s it! The only thing for you to do now is share your code and wait for the credits to come rolling in.

Can I choose between an energy credit or Giftpay voucher?

As an energy company, our aim is to help you keep your bills as low as possible.

If you’re an Octopus Energy customer, we’ll always give you an energy credit in the first instance but you can always choose to withdraw the cash from your account, if you’d like to.

If you’re not an Octopus Energy customer, we’ll give you a Giftpay voucher to spend on any of their retailers. If you want to use it improve the energy efficiency of your home - why not check out these cheap efficiency hacks.

What happens if my install, or my friend’s install, doesn’t go ahead?

We understand sometimes things don’t quite go as planned.

If for whatever reason your installation doesn’t go ahead, we'll honour any referrals you make before the cancellation.

If the person your referring's installation is cancelled, they won’t be able to claim the installation discount, but you will still receive your energy credit or Giftpay voucher.

Is there a limit to the number of people I can refer?

Do we need to be Octopus Energy customers?

You don’t need to have your energy supplied by Octopus Energy to qualify for a referral, and neither does the person you’re referring.

If you’re an Octopus Energy customer, we’ll always give you the option of an energy credit in the first instance.

Can I refer a friend for an EV charger installation?

Our referral reward won’t be available for EV charger installations just yet. That means if you’ve had an EV charger installed, or you’re looking to get one, it won’t be possible to be referred by a heat pump or solar power customer.

Can I refer myself for a second installation?

×

This offer is only applicable as a way to refer a friend or family member living at a separate address. That means it is not possible to refer yourself (or someone else living at your property) for a solar or heat pump installation if you've already had the other product installed by us.

If available, we may be able to offer a discount on your second product –speak to your sales advisor to find out more.

Octopus Energy Heat Pump and Solar Referral Scheme (the “Promotion”)

  1. You can refer friends and family to have a heat pump or solar panels installed by sharing your unique referral code with them (your “Referral Code”). You will be sent your Referral Code after signing your final sales agreement. They can then share this Referral Code with our sales team at any point before signing their final sales agreement, and you will both receive a reward after the referred customer has signed their final sales agreement.
  2. For the referrer, the reward will be either an Octopus Energy account credit (if you have your domestic energy supplied by Octopus Energy) OR a voucher. For the referred friend or family, the reward will be a discount from the final balance of their heat pump or solar installation.
  3. The Promotion is available for customers who are having or have had either a home solar installation or heat pump installation by Octopus Energy. You can refer friends and family for installation of either of these products, regardless of which of the products you had installed yourself. You cannot refer a friend or family member living at the same property.
  4. EV chargers are not included in the Promotion at this time. The Promotion can't be used in conjunction with other offers, unless we say otherwise.
  5. You may not send or advertise your Referral Code to people who are not known to you, and if we think you’re doing this or are in any way trying to benefit from the Promotion on a commercial basis rather than for personal use, we reserve the right to deactivate your Referral Code.
  6. Any personal data we collect relating to you or your referred friend or family will be used in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which is available on our website at octopus.energy/policies/privacy-policy.
  7. We reserve the right to cancel or amend the terms of this Promotion without prior notice. In the event of any dispute regarding any aspect of the Promotion, our decision shall be final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  8. The Promotion is governed by the laws of England and Wales and any disputes shall be dealt with exclusively by the courts of England and Wales.
