Bereavement - managing an energy account after someone has passed away

Dealing with the affairs of a loved one who has passed away can be a really difficult time.

That's why we've started working with Settld to make it as easy as possible for you.

There's no cost to you: we pay for the service. Settld work on your behalf to notify all of the different companies that need to know, so you can focus on more important things during this time.

Just use Settld's online form to notify us and we'll take care of the rest.

If you don't want to use this service, that's no problem.

If you need to let us know that one of our customers has passed away, just get in touch with the following information, and we'll help:

  • Details of the person who has passed away: name, full address, and the date they passed.

  • Meter readings: we will typically keep the account open until the property's been sold or the keys have been handed back. Please let us know the date that this happens, as well as the final readings (where possible), so we can close the account up to then.

  • Details of the person who's responsible for looking after their affairs: This is probably the executor of the estate if there's a will, or administrator if there isn't one.

If there was no will and you're not sure who the administrator is, don't worry - just give us whatever information you have at the time.
