This Saturday at 8.30pm, we’re supporting WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) with a unique Saving Sessions takeover to celebrate Earth Hour - and you’re invited!

What’s Saving Sessions?

Saving Sessions Logo

Saving Sessions are part of our Octoplus rewards program where we pay you to use less power. By getting involved and cutting down on energy use at busy times of the day, together, we can have a positive impact on both the planet and Grid.

So far, you've collectively saved a whopping 1,717MWh. That's the equivalent of driving a Lime electric scooter 119 million kilometres - enough juice to visit every coffee shop in the world. Brew-tiful!

👉 Here’s everything you need to know about Saving Sessions.

What’s Earth Hour?

Saving Sessions Logo

WWF’s Earth Hour is a global movement where millions of people, businesses, and landmarks around the world switch off power for one hour to show their support for the planet.

During our usual Saving Sessions, we pay you to use less power for an hour or two so the UK can avoid switching on dirty fossil fuel plants to top up the energy needed in that time.

Our missions align. So it felt like a no-brainer to support.

So what’s actually happening?

At 8:30pm on Saturday 22nd March, we’re inviting you to join us in reducing your energy use for 60 minutes and do something positive for you and the planet instead.

We’re also committing to donate £40,000 to support WWF’s incredible work.

You can make an even bigger splash by donating a percentage of your current Octopoints balance to WWF. Together, we can help protect nature and bring our world back to life.

If you've got a working smart meter and have taken part in Saving Sessions before, here's how to get involved:

  1. Opt in to this extra special Saving Session (we've emailed you the opt in link)
  2. Use less energy to show your support for Earth Hour
  3. Choose to donate some extra Octopoints from your overall balance to support WWF’s mission.
  4. Share what you get up to on social media with #SavingSessionsWWF

Why are we supporting WWF?

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is a world-leading conservation organisation, tirelessly working to protect our planet’s climate, wildlife and oceans. And here at Octopus, we’re all-in on renewables to help further this mission, to protect future generations and our planet.

Why it matters?

Earth Hour is more than just an hour in the dark – it’s a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together. By participating, you’re joining a global community of people who care deeply about the future of our planet. And we truly believe in the power of collective action.

And Octopus Energy will donate £40,000 to WWF-UK, a charity registered in England and Wales (1081247) and Scotland (SC039593) in respect of its support of Earth Hour 2025.
