Becoming an ECO partner with Octopus Energy

This page is for installation businesses who are interested in applying to be an Octopus Energy ECO installer. Read on for our frequently asked questions and how to apply to become one of our installers.

If you're a customer looking for more information on our ECO schemes, you can head over to our ECO page here.

How does the ECO scheme funding work?

×

While we have a large roster of installers that we already work with, we're always on the look out for new quality partners. ECO funding is released in phases every quarter meaning that new applicants may need to wait for new funding to be released before receiving referrals from the Octopus Energy ECO team.

What expectations are there for ECO partners?

×

Excellent customer service is our highest priority at Octopus Energy. Any partners that we send ECO referrals to are expected to reflect these high standards in both their communications with the customer and in the installation work itself.

For our ECO partners specifically we use the government's Best Practice Guidelines which you will need to refer to for the installation jobs you undertake.

Best Practice Guidelines:

Solid floor insulation

Retrofit internal wall insulation

Retrofit room in roof insulation

My company is new to ECO scheme installations, how do I get started?

×

Our focus is getting as many installations done as efficiently and to as high a standard as possible. To make sure this happens we work with Companies who have a trading history in the ECO sector.

If you are a new ECO Company you should start off with a managing agent who can guide you through the complicated paperwork and requirements of the ECO scheme.

Can I choose which ECO measures I install?

×

During each obligation phase we will let all partners know which types of ECO installation measures we will be referring customers for. You are welcome to choose which types of installation you install but if they are not the same type as those we are referring you won't be allocated any customers.

Do you accept all types of solid wall insulation?

×

We only accept insulation systems with a fire rating of “A”.

So how do you become a partner and deliver ECO credits to the Octopus Energy ECO team?

×

The first step is to have your own ECO accreditation. We work closely
with accreditation bodies and if you are reading this page, you will know all
about the Publicly Available Specification scheme or PAS for short.

All our partners work within their own PAS and we insist that this is kept up to date for
the measures you will be fitting under the scheme.

If there are measures, you do not currently hold a valid PAS for then you can
nominate a small number of sub-contractors, but these will be limited, and they
must hold their own PAS accreditation.

If this seems all in line with your business, then drop us a mail to
eco.admin@octoes.com and our team will guide you on the next steps.

Do Octopus Energy work with managing agents?

×

We only work with a limited number of managing agents and only a small amount of funding is released to managing agents.

Do you come and check the measures we fit?

×

Yes quality installations and customer satisfaction is our number one priority. We insist that 50% of all solid wall insulation has independent technical monitoring. Likewise, we insist that 25% of all heating measures also have independent technical monitoring. The Companies checking the work must be accredited to do so and be recognised in their field to offer this service.

We always recommend ATMA approved Technical Monitoring Agents (TMS’s).

Does Octopus inspect our installation work?

×

Yes, we have field teams that will liaise with your own operational teams and come to site during the installation of measures. Linked to this we also check submitted material such as paperwork and guarantees to ensure they are in line with what we
expect to see.

How do payments work?

×

We will request request a weekly invoice from you, and payments are 14 days after the Invoice has been created.

How often do you review partners performance?

×

Monthly but new partners are usually notified on a quarterly basis of further funding releases.

Can everyone that applies receive funding?

×

We only have limited amounts of funding and many installation partners. Funding is released at our discretion.

Where do I go for guidance to be compliant with the scheme?

×

We recommend the IAA, a link to their website: The Installation Assurance Authority: The IAA

How much do you pay for each ECO credit?

×

That depends on market trends, volumes and measures. We will only talk about rates once you have passed our onboarding PQQ process.

Hey I'm Constantine, welcome to Octopus Energy!
