Agile Octopus is the first tariff of its kind. To switch onto it, we need half-hourly readings from your SMETS2 or “Secure” branded SMETS1 meter.
Because Agile is an electricity only tariff, when you switch to it your gas tariff will stay the same. You can change it at any time.
Already have a SMETS2 or “Secure” branded SMETS1 meter?
Simply start your switch onto an interim tariff below. Once you're on supply with us (which is usually within 3 working days), and we've received half-hourly readings from your smart meter (usually within 14 days) we'll send you an email inviting you to complete your switch to Agile Octopus.
If you're not sure whether your SMETS1 is from “Secure”, it should be written on the front of your smart meter.

Agile prices are based on the wholesale price of energy, which can change significantly day-to-day. In Winter '22-'23, a typical household on Agile paid around 35p/kWh for the majority of the time (over 1p/kWh more than the average variable tariff). Short-term market spikes can send Agile prices up to 100p/kWh – that's three times higher than most customers are paying right now.
This tariff is best suited to customers who can shift large amounts of their energy use to avoid these expensive peaks, often by using smart home technologies like solar and batteries.

Once you've started your switch, we'll send you an email inviting you to join our installation waiting list. Please be aware that whilst most properties are suitable for a smart meter, as long as you have good mobile signal, and are not currently on a prepay meter, some properties are not. If you have a 3 phase electricity meter, you're in a rural location, or your electricity meter is in a communal cupboard, drop an email to hello@octopus.energy and we'll look into it for you.
If we are not able to fit a smart meter for you, we will be in touch to let you know. You will be free to switch away from us at any time. If we are able to fit a smart meter, we will get in contact with you when we have appointments in your area. We will do this as quickly as possible, but it can take some time depending on current pandemic restrictions and availability. You can read more about this in our blog.

Once you've registered your interest, our team will be in contact when we have an appointment in your area.
Once we've received half-hourly readings from your smart meter, which takes up to 14 days, we'll send you an email inviting you to accept the terms and conditions of Agile Octopus to complete your switch (which include allowing us to take half hourly readings from your meter and that Agile Octopus is a beta product which means that some things may not work first time). You must accept these T&Cs before your switch to Agile Octopus can be completed.
