Free coffee, films and days out for helping the grid: ‘Octoplus’ rewards scheme announces first big brand partners

  • ‘Octoplus’ rewards scheme now offering big partner rewards and discounts
  • Free weekly coffee at Greggs, weekly cinema tickets from ODEON and quarterly day passes at the National Trust and the National Trust for Scotland
  • Customers earn rewards by reducing their energy usage during peak times and keeping a healthy energy account

London, 2nd February 2024 - The UK’s largest power provider, Octopus Energy, has today announced that customers earning points in the ‘Octoplus’ reward scheme can now claim prizes through partners Greggs, ODEON and the National Trust and the National Trust for Scotland.

Over a million Octopus customers are already signed up to ‘Octoplus’ and now, customers who reduce their usage during certain periods of high demand, or keep a healthy energy account by checking meter readings and spinning the ‘wheel of fortune’, can gain ‘Octopoints’* that can be exchanged for free hot drinks, cinema tickets or National Trust and National Trust for Scotland day passes.

The following brands have joined forces with Octopus Energy to bring incredible offers that will be available for customers in the ‘Octoplus’ section of their app and online dashboard:

  • Greggs: Enjoy a complimentary hot drink every week at Greggs just by being signed up to Octoplus (offer subject to shop availability).
  • ODEON: Cinematic experience with weekly 2 for £10 cinema tickets at ODEON from Monday to Thursday, just by being signed up to Octoplus.
  • National Trust: Once a quarter, the National Trust will provide a day pass for two, valued up to £44, for just 6,000 Octopoints (£7.50).
  • National Trust for Scotland: Similarly once a quarter, the National Trust Scotland will also provide a day pass for two, valued at £22, for just 6,000 Octopoints (£7.50).

Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, Chief Product and Marketing Officer at Octopus Energy Group, commented: “Admittedly, submitting meter readings and keeping tabs on your energy account isn’t the most thrilling activity for everyone. That’s why we’ve designed ‘Octoplus’ - to make mundane energy tasks fun.

“Our customers are already getting paid for shifting their energy usage during grid stress, and now they can even get free drinks and cinema tickets on top.

“We’re chuffed to welcome epic brands such as Greggs, ODEON and both the National Trust and the National Trust for Scotland to the scheme, offering additional perks for our green-minded customers. But we won’t stop here, so watch this space.”

To be eligible for Octoplus, customers have to receive electricity from Octopus Energy, have an operational electric smart meter (i.e. receiving half hourly readings from it) and pay via Direct Debit. Business customers and smart prepayment customers can also join ‘Octoplus’.

Eligible customers can sign up via the banner in their online accounts or in their app. Please visit for more information.

Redeeming offers is a breeze for ‘Octoplus’ members. Simply navigate to the ‘Octoplus’ section of the Octopus Energy app or dashboard, where users can view available offers and check their Octopoint balance. Customers can then use the provided code in-store or online to unlock the exclusive benefits.
