Octopus Free Electricity Power Tower – Terms and Conditions
How Do I Take Part?
Make sure you're signed up to Free Electricity via the Octopus app or email.
The first milestone is set at £88,000 of free electricity used. Once this milestone is reached the prize will be unlocked. The next milestone will be announced via the Session notification email, on Octopus Energy’s social media channels, and on the Power Tower online dashboard.
During the Session, simply use more electricity than you usually would during that time period – run appliances, charge devices, cook, do laundry – anything that increases your electricity use safely.
Your usage is automatically tracked by your smart meter – there’s no need to submit readings.
If the total energy usage by all participants meets or exceeds a milestone, the associated prize will be unlocked and either awarded to participants or triggered for charity.
Milestone achievements and prize announcements will be made on Octopus Energy’s social media channels and on the Free Electricity online dashboard, so you can track progress in real-time and see what’s been unlocked.
For prize draws (e.g. physical items or the EV), you’ll earn one entry for every Session you participate in where you use more electricity than your baseline. The more Sessions you participate in and exceed your baseline, the more chances you’ll have to win.
1. Introduction
The Octopus Free Electricity Power Tower (the “Promotion”) is organised by Octopus Energy Limited (“Octopus”, “we”, “our”, or “us”). By entering this Promotion, participants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
2. Eligibility
2.1. This Promotion is open to Octopus Energy customers in the UK aged 18 or over who have joined Octoplus with an active electricity supply account and have opted into Free Electricity at the time of the Sessions and at the time the prizes are drawn.
2.2. Employees of Octopus Energy, their immediate families or anyone connected professionally with this Promotion are not eligible to win prizes.
3. Promotion Period
3.1. The Promotion will run over a series of scheduled Free Electricity sessions (“Sessions”) during Summer 2025, on dates and times communicated via email and/or the Octopus app.
3.2. Sessions will be announced at least 24 hours in advance.
4. How to Participate
4.1. During each Session, eligible customers are encouraged to increase electricity usage compared to their average usage during the same time period on similar previous days.
4.2. Collective milestones will be set (e.g. total Free Electricity used (in equivalent British Pounds) across all participating households during the Session).
4.3. If the community reaches or exceeds the milestones, prizes will be unlocked.
5. Intelligent Octopus Go, Drive, or Flux customers
5.1. Intelligent Octopus Go, Drive, or Flux customers will need to plug in their eligible device (e.g. EV or battery) for the full hour of the session.
5.2. Intelligent Octopus Go, Drive, or Flux customers should not manually override charging schedule or boost charge during the Free Electricity session.
5.3. Intelligent Octopus Go, Drive, or Flux customers will be credited with one hour of free charging
5.4. The charging itself may not happen during that session – it might be shifted to a more optimal time.
5.5. Your household electricity usage will still be charged as normal during the session hour.
5.6. Participation this way still counts toward prize draw entries (as long as the device is plugged in for the full hour).
6. The Prizes

7. Prize Distribution
7.1. Most prizes (e.g. flash sales, charity donations, double or triple sessions) apply automatically and will be communicated via your dashboard and Octopus Energy social media pages.
7.2. Limited-quantity items (e.g. sausage rolls, plushies, iced coffee) will be randomly allocated to eligible participants in a prize draw. To be eligible to take part in the prize draw, you must have used more energy than normal in at least one Free Electricity session in 2025.
7.3. Winners of physical items and the EV will be randomly selected. Winners will be contacted directly via the email address connected to their electricity supply account. If we cannot reach a winner within 7 days, we reserve the right to reallocate the prize.
7.4. Winners will be given the opportunity to decline their prize if they do not wish to accept it. If declined, the prize will be reallocated to another eligible participant. No alternative will be offered.
6.5. From time to time, Octopus may award additional spot prizes based on engagement, including social media mentions, creativity, or other discretionary criteria. These will be announced on social media and awarded at Octopus’ sole discretion. Additional Terms & Conditions may apply at the time of each award.
6.6 No cash or other alternatives will be offered.
7. Data and Privacy
7.1. Personal data will be used solely for the purposes of administering the Promotion and in accordance with Octopus’ Privacy Policy.
8. General
8.1. Octopus reserves the right to amend or withdraw the Promotion or these Terms and Conditions at any time.
8.2. In the event of dispute, the decision of Octopus is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
8.3. The Promotion is governed by English law and the courts of England shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
