Here's how we pass all that good stuff on to you:
Fair prices for the long term
When you're with Octopus, you can be sure you're getting a great deal. Our fixed prices are typically within 5% of the cheapest deals on the market.
We’re the only large supplier to have always meaningfully kept our prices below the energy price cap. That’s a limit on the amount of money suppliers can charge for your energy and something we campaigned for in the first place – saving customers billions in the process.
Smarter, greener energy
Our smart tariffs allow customers to save by shifting their energy use to times when renewable energy is most abundant.
On Octopus Tracker, customers can access daily wholesale prices and plan their energy use around price dips. Customers typically saved £320 in 2024.
On Agile Octopus, we even pay customers to use energy in plunge pricing events. When the grid’s full of green electrons, prices drop – giving you cheap or even free energy to stop it going to waste.
We also have special tariffs to help customers with EVs, heat pumps and solar panels save, too.
So is it worth it? Absolutely. Customers on our smart tariffs and schemes have already saved over £100 million in total, simply by shifting their energy use.
Clear, transparent communication
We’ve worked hard to make sure energy prices are fair. Not just for our own customers, but EVERYONE. (Remember the price cap we mentioned earlier? We campaigned for it way back in 2017 and helped it become law: it means suppliers aren't allowed to make a huge profit off your energy).
We price sensibly so we can stick around for the long haul. Any margin we make is slim. That means if our energy prices go up, it’s because they have to, but we'll always tell you why – often straight from the horse's mouth – and keep fighting for better value in background. Octoplus, our free rewards programme
Great value doesn’t always mean money off your bills – sometimes it’s a free coffee, a cheeky sausage roll, or a cinema voucher. With Octoplus, our free rewards programme, smart meter customers get over £200 worth of perks every year.
It also unlocks access to Saving Sessions – where you get paid to use less energy during peak times. The scheme's built up quite the fanbase, with customers saving over £10 million just by doing small things like skipping the cooker or switching off the kettle for an hour.
Then there’s Free Electricity – where we flip the switch and pay you for using extra energy in a one-hour session to stop clean, green energy from going to waste. It’s still fairly new, but customers have already saved around £912k – and we’re just getting started.
All in all? Since launching, Octoplus members have unlocked over £20 million in rewards. A truly bonkers amount – which is why joining is a no-brainer.
All those extra perks
Like going for dinner, it's not just the main meal that counts – it’s the unexpected sides, service and all the added extras that make the Octopus experience special.
