Bing Pilates sits by the Thames in a peaceful development near Hammersmith, west London. They offer individual and group classes to help local residents with physical performance, recovery and flexibility (told you).
It's a busy studio with a half-hourly meter, making them a mid-market customer. We sat down with the owner, Bingxi, to find out more about her business, their energy usage and the mid-market experience.
It’s lovely to meet you! Tell us about yourself.
My name is Bingxi Wang. I'm the founder and owner for the Bing Pilates Studio in London.
Before opening the studio, I did dance training and studied dance science too. I found that pilates is a practical way to apply science to help clients to enhance their performances for their hobbies and to prevent injuries.
What's your studio like?
We’re at Fulham Reach. It’s near the river, it’s got this tranquil feeling and it’s just the right space for me because the size is perfect.
I wanted to create a space for the teacher to enjoy teaching and the clients to enjoy doing their exercise.
Sometimes, it can be really busy at peak times. So, we do use lots of energy. We use ventilation, fans and air con to help the clients feel cool or warm in the right season. Summer and winter are the peak seasons when it’s very hot and very cold.
Speaking of energy, how do you choose the right supplier for you?
When I choose an energy supplier, I’m looking for renewable energy, good tariffs, good deals. And someone that I can rely on. Reliability is very important to me.
The great challenge for a business owner in choosing energy supplies is - while you’re taking care of the business itself - you have to worry about tariff options. You have to spend time comparing all the tariffs and doing lots of research.

Yes, I’ve stayed with Octopus Energy for Business since 2018, so quite a few years. I trust Octopus and love the green energy - and also the great tariffs.
Octopus Energy for Business provide an easy life for me as a business owner because I can just receive the emails about all the bills directly, about how much was the usage for each month. I found it’s very easy to email directly with staff and negotiate the tariff.
What do you think of our tariffs?
At the moment, I’m on a two year fixed tariff contract. I feel like it’s a great deal for me and a fair price. It’s good for me to secure prices long-term, so I can be a bit more relaxed and feel like I’ve saved money.
What’s been your experience of being a mid-market energy user?
We have a half-hourly meter, so it’s quite difficult to find a supplier. But I know that Octopus Energy provide the tariffs for it. So, I chose that.
