When should I submit a meter reading each month?

You should submit your meter readings within the last 5 days of each month. 

We’ll send you an email reminder 5 days before the end of the month. So, aim to submit your reading as soon as you receive a reminder. 

Here's an example: 

• You receive an email from us on 25th June reminding you to submit a meter reading

• This means you’ve got until 30th June to submit your reading

• If you submit your reading in this window, we’ll use it in your monthly invoice

If you don’t submit your reading in this window:

• We’ll estimate your reading on the 1st of the month for your invoice instead

• We base this estimate on your past readings and a forecast of your energy consumption

If you receive an invoice with an estimate, there's no need to worry. Just email an up-to-date meter reading (ideally a photo of your meter) to business@octopus.energy. We’ll add this reading to your account and issue you a new invoice.
