Panel Power works alongside your existing import tariff. So, you'll get your normal great value rates for the energy we supply to you. Plus, you'll sell your excess homegrown energy back to the grid at 8p/kWh.

    ✅   have a maximum capacity of less than 150 kWp
    ✅   have a working smart meter, or other export-compatible meter
    ✅   aren't receiving Feed-in Tariff in payments
    ✅   have an import meter with Octopus Energy for Business

Which Octopus business export tariff is best for me?

Here's a simple question to help you decide. Do you have battery storage, solar panels or both?

I only have battery storage

Shape Shifters: Export will work best for you. Just charge up your battery when energy prices are low. Then, sell it later in the day when prices are higher.

I only have solar panels

Panel Power is made for businesses like yours. You get a simple flat rate of 8p, all day. So you can profit on your power, no matter what time you produce it.

I have solar panels and battery storage

Shape Shifters: Export is the one for you. You can store up your power until the prices peak. Then, sell them at highest rate.

I don't have either

These tariffs are for customers who can generate or sell their energy. But don't worry - we've got plenty more smart products you can enjoy.

How long does a Panel Power application take?

Applications to Panel Power can take up to 10 weeks to process. When that's done, you can start exporting and earning.

What will my import unit rate be?

This won't change as a result of joining Panel Power.

You'll keep the same Octopus import tariff. But, you'll have a shiny new export tariff.

Can I join if I don't have a smart meter?

You can join Panel Power if you have a smart meter or another type of export-compatible meter.

Speak with the team to find out if your meter can work with Panel Power.

Is Panel Power the same as the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG)?

No, Panel Power is a separate export tariff.

But, you can choose to join the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) instead. You'll receive 3p for each unit of electricity you sell back to the grid.

At the moment, the SEG application process can take up to 10 weeks.

Is Panel Power a Feed-in Tariff (FiT)?

No, Panel Power is a different type of export tariff. You’ll receive monthly credits for the energy you send to the grid.

Can I join Panel Power if I don't own my solar panels?

Yes, we just need consent from the owner. Once we’ve got this, we can start adding the export credits to your account.
