Switch energy supplier

Step 2: Get your welcome email

Within 60 seconds of signing up, our CEO, Greg will send you a welcome by email.

At this point your 14 day ‘cooling off’ period kicks in, so if you change your mind, just let us know and it'll be like you never left your current supplier.

We’ll get in touch with your existing supplier and let them know you’re switching to us. We’ll then agree a switchover date with your old supplier when we'll start officially start supplying your energy. It's usually 17 days after you sign up, if all goes as it should.

Step 3: Give us a meter reading

Five days from your official switch date, we'll email you to ask for a meter reading. This will be used to work out where your old supplier stops charging you for energy, and we start.

You've got up until five days after your official switchover date to send us this reading (all the details are in your welcome email). If you don't get a reading to us within this 10 day window, we'll work out an estimate with your old supplier.

🎉 Congratulations, you're all switched over! 🎉

On your switchover date, we'll officially take over your property's energy supply. Your first payment should also come out that day...

Step 4: Your first payment

We'll take your first Direct Debit on your switchover date to put your account in credit, and monthly from then on, on the day you've chosen. Since your annual usage is estimated at the beginning, having some opening credit can smooth any wobbles in your consumption.

As we get to know your energy use, we'll keep reviewing your monthly payment to make sure you're paying enough to cover the cost of your energy (this helps you avoid building up credit and debt). The first account health review happens 45 days after you join us.

How long will it take to change energy supplier?

We've worked hard to make the switching process as quick and painless as it can be. We will usually switch you over within 3 working days of you signing up and we're covered by the Energy Switch Guarantee.

Do I need to contact my current supplier?

No need! We'll liaise directly with your old supplier to let them know about your switch.

In a few weeks' time, we'll ask you for meter readings. We'll use these to agree on an exact point at which we'll start billing you for your energy, and your old supplier will stop (so you're never paying for the same energy twice).

Your old supplier will then send out your final bill to close your account (or let you have any credit back) — sometimes this process can take up to 6 weeks.

The one thing we can't do is cancel your old Direct Debit — that's between your bank and your old supplier — but we do recommend you organise this as soon as you've settled up your final bill with them to make sure no further payments are taken.

Are there different energy tariffs to choose from?

Yes, we offer various tariffs for both dual fuel and electricity only. All of our tariffs use 100% renewable energy. Take a look at all our options to find the energy tariff which is right for you.
