What is the Business Battery Plan?
The Business Battery Plan is our tech-driven energy service that delivers 15% off our standard fixed tariffs.
No hidden costs, just your electricity optimised to your business needs.
It's made for businesses with batteries and no solar power. And it's ideal for customers who want to install one with us.
But, it's perfect for the businesses seeking no fuss tariffs — the energy enthusiasts seeking smarter options for SMEs — or business owners ready to start their carbon-free journey.

Business Battery Plan: How it works
My business has a battery
If you've already got a battery, we'll assess your setup and calculate a bespoke quote for your energy.
Once you accept your quote, we'll connect to your tech.
Then:
- We'll source and store your energy when prices are cheapest and greenest.
- You'll run your business as normal, while making a return on your low-carbon investment.
- We’ll charge you a set fee for your energy each day.
- Then, each month, we'll send you an invoice with your total charges.
- If you use more power than we expect, you'll pay the difference at our standard variable rate.
My business doesn't have a battery
If you're a business looking for a battery, you're in the right place:
- First you'll need to request a quote for your battery. We'll ask for some info about your business and meter set up.
- Before sending an engineer, we'll review your details to see if your site is suitable.
- If approved, we'll work with you to install and set up your battery.
- Once your battery is ready to go, we'll connect to your tech and get your plan started.
From there it's pretty simple. We'll optimise your battery and the savings you make will help cover its costs.
The Business Battery Plan is for businesses that:
- Are Octopus Energy customers
- Have a working smart meter
- Have a battery (with or without a heat pump / EV charger)
- Pay by Direct Debit and are up to date with payments
Not all batteries are compatible with the Business Battery Plan. Business Battery Plan is a beta product. For more information, head to our product T&Cs.
How do I sign up for the Business Battery Plan?

To get started you'll need to get a quote for your plan.
We’ll ask for a few details about your setup so we can build an accurate quote.
To help you get ready, here's well what we need from you:
✅ Your Octopus Energy for Business account number
✅ Your battery model
✅ Your battery export MPAN

Is my business suitable for the Business Battery Plan?

You'll be eligible if:
- You're an existing Octopus Energy for Business customer with battery storage.
- You've got a battery with a heat pump and or an EV charger.
You won't be eligible if:
- If your business already has solar panels and batteries. But, we think you'll love Shape Shifters: Export.
If you've got any other low-carbon tech, let us know when you request your quote.
How do you calculate my Business Battery Plan?

Here’s how we’ll calculate your quote:
- We'll use your energy data to calculate what your business would pay over a year with our fixed tariffs.
- We'll reduce that amount by 15%.
- We divide the total into a simple fixed daily fee.
That means you pay 15% less over the year compared to a standard Octopus fixed tariff — with one predictable daily price.
How do I get a battery for my business?

If you don't have a battery yet, we can install one for you.
You'll need to submit a battery install quote request. It asks for some details about your site and meter set up.
Once that's done, we'll review your details.
If your application is accepted, we’ll get started on your install quote.
Some businesses can claim enhanced capital allowances on the cost of their battery. We recommend speaking to your accountant to see if your business qualifies.
