Power couple: Octopus Energy and Barratt team up to wipe out home energy bills

London, 22nd December 2025 – Octopus Energy, the UK’s largest energy supplier, and Barratt Redrow, the UK’s largest housebuilder, have joined forces to bring energy-bill-free living to households across the country.
The landmark deal will combine Octopus’ pioneering Zero Bills tariff with Barratt Redrow’s deep construction expertise to create high-quality, sustainable homes, where residents won’t pay a penny for their home energy bills for 10 years.
Launched in 2022, Zero Bills is the world’s first tariff that lets customers move into homes packed with cutting-edge green tech – including a heat pump, a battery and solar panels – with no home energy bills for at least 5-10 years, guaranteed.*
As a first step in the partnership, Octopus and Barratt Redrow will roll out 54 Zero Bills homes across two sites in Wixams, Bedfordshire and Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. The first homes will be completed in 2026, and both partners are already exploring further potential Zero Bills sites across the UK.
The deal comes hot on the heels of Octopus Capital’s £100m funding raised via its Affordable Housing Fund which will unlock more than 1,000 Zero Bills homes across England and Scotland.
To date, Octopus has approved over 5,000 Zero Bills homes through partnerships with leading developers, covering affordable and private rent, plus private and shared ownership properties.
Octopus Energy aims to deliver 100,000 Zero Bills homes by 2030, and has already rolled out the initiative in Germany, France, New Zealand, as well as the UK.
