What is a Power Purchase Agreement

A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is a contract between an electricity generator and a customer - in this case, an agreement between us (Octopus Energy) and you, the generator.

Under a PPA, we agree to buy the energy you export back to the grid at a pre-agreed price per MWh, for a length of time we negotiate together. It’s essentially a friendly, fixed-price handshake that helps you plan your revenue while helping us bring more lovely green electrons to our customers.

Our criteria

We supply PPAs to sites under the following criteria:

Site must already be connected and have a export MPAN or a binding contract.
Technology: Wind, Solar and Hydro
Site size: Greater than 0.15 MW in Total Installed capacity and no more than 15% total usage on site
Generator must be a sole trader or limited company. (Community groups are recommended to look into our Partners at Younity)
