Terms & Conditions - Name the Turbine at Skate Manchester

1. General rules

The promotion is run by Octopus Energy Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 09263424). Our registered office is UK House, 5th Floor, 164-182 Oxford Street, London, W1D 1NN.

By entering this competition, you agree to be bound by these rules. We reserve the right to cancel or amend the competition or these rules at any time without notice. Any changes will be posted on our website. Our decision on all matters relating to the competition will be final, and we won't enter into any correspondence about it.

2. Competition Entry

To enter, you must be an Octopus Energy customer, 18 or older, living in Great Britain, and signed up to the Octoplus Rewards scheme. No purchase is necessary to enter.

You must submit your suggested turbine name and your details using our official competition form. You can only submit one name per Octopus Energy account. If you submit more than one, we'll only consider your first entry.

The submission window closes at 11.59pm Friday 17th October 2025.

By entering, you confirm that all information you provide is true and complete. If we find any information to be fraudulent or incorrect, or if we believe you have breached these rules, we can disqualify you. Employees of Octopus Energy, its parent companies, subsidiaries, or affiliates, and their immediate families, are not allowed to enter. We aren't responsible for entries that don't reach us for any reason.

3. The Prize

There will be two winners, each receiving x5 tickets each for the Manchester Octopus Energy sponsored Ice Rink launch event on Friday 24th October 2025, plus £300 travel costs added to their energy account to refund.

The dates will be confirmed with the winners week commencing 13th of October and cannot be changed.

If there are duplicate names suggested, the first person to suggest it will win.

The tickets are non-transferable and cannot be sold. Any tickets found for sale will be cancelled, and the ticket holders will be refused entry.

4. Winner Selection & Public Vote

Our judges will select their favourite name from the from all eligible entries and a runner up name. The chosen finalists will be contacted directly and will each win the prize mentioned above.

The winning names will then be put to a public vote on our social media channels. The public will vote for their favourite name, which will then be chosen as the temporary turbine name for the duration that the turbine is built at the Manchester ice rink. The entrant whose name is chosen by the public will not receive any additional prize beyond the five tickets and travel costs they have already won.

5. Intellectual Property

By submitting a name, you grant Octopus Energy a royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive license to use, publish, and display your submitted name. This allows us to use the winning name as the turbine's temporary name, and to use the names of the runners-up in our marketing materials, without any further compensation to you.

6. Liability and Disclaimers

Octopus Energy is not responsible for any loss or damage you might suffer as a result of entering this competition or using the prize. This includes any injury or loss that occurs at the ice rink or during the visit. The winners and their guests must comply with all of the venues and the event promoter's terms and conditions.

In the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as the cancellation of the launch event, we will not be liable. No alternative prize will be offered if the event is cancelled or postponed for reasons beyond our control.

7. Privacy Policy

When you enter this competition, you provide us with personal data. We will use this information to run the competition and contact you if you win. We will handle your data in line with our Privacy Policy, which you can read in full at https://octopus.energy/policies/privacy-policy/. By entering, you agree to this use of your personal data.

8. Governing Law

This competition and these rules are governed by English law. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
