"Tethered" refers to a cable that is permanently connected to the charging unit on one end.

In contrast, "untethered" means the cable connects to your car on one end and to the charging box on the other, allowing you to use your own cable, such as the one that came with your EV.

What are 'tethered' and 'untethered' cables?

Our tethered EV chargers typically have cables that range from 5 to 8 metres, which is generally sufficient for most homes where the charger is installed outside and the car is parked on a driveway. The length will depend on where you like to park your car, and keep in mind that any unused cable length can be rolled up by the charger when not in use. 

Our Ohme ePod chargers come without a tethered cable, so you can buy a cable length of your choice to plug in.
