Citroën free miles home charging energy offer
If you order a new Citroën electric vehicle (a Qualifying Vehicle) between 00:01 1st October - 23:59 5th January 2025 from a participating Citroen Stellantis retailer and a new EV charger (a Qualifying Charger) from Octopus Energy you’ll be eligible to receive a credit on your Octopus account of an amount equal to 10,000 miles of vehicle charging (the Credit) (as calculated in, and subject to, the terms and restrictions below) when you join Octopus Energy on the EV tariff known as ‘Intelligent Octopus Go’ (the Offer).
Eligibility:
The Offer:
- applies to retail orders only customers
- is only available to purchasers of a Qualifying Vehicle and a Qualifying Charger;
- is only available to people over the age of 18 in the United Kingdom (but excluding Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands) who have a smart meter installed at their property which we can connect to, and who are eligible to receive (and subsequently take and agree to the terms of) the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff; and is only available to people who have an EV charger installed at their place of residence and are able to charge their EV from home.
During the sign up process for the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff, Octopus will confirm whether you are eligible to join the tariff.
To benefit from the Offer, you'll need to be a new or existing customer of Octopus Energy. You will not be eligible for the Offer if you sign up via a third party like a price comparison site.
Verifying your eligibility
In order to evidence your eligibility, at https://citroenfreemiles.octopus.energy you will need to enter the promotional code received from Octopus Energy by email after your EV charger has been installed. We will then confirm whether the code is a bona fide promotional code through which you can benefit from the Offer.
If you have successfully been approved to participate in the Offer, the Credit will be provided to your Octopus Energy account within 30 days provided that you have first become an Octopus Energy customer signed up to the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff, and the first direct debit payment has been taken on your Octopus account.
How does it work?
We calculate the car's efficiency by dividing the usable battery size by the ‘real world' range. Range will depend on speed, style of driving, weather conditions and route condition as well as chosen Citroën model. We take a weighted kWh/mile across Citroën electric vehicles, which is 0.229 kWh/mile.
We then multiply this by 10,000 annual mileage and by the Intelligent Octopus Go off-peak energy rate. It is assumed, for the purposes of calculating the Credit value, that you will only charge your car at home during the Intelligent Octopus Go off-peak window (this is currently from 23:30-5.30) or during the times that we start smart charging your car at this off-peak rate.
Illustrative example for a Citroën Electric Vehicle on the Octopus Intelligent Go tariff
- 0.229 (Car's energy efficiency) x 10,000 (miles/year) = 2290
- 2290 x 7p (price of energy per kWh) = £161 (charging costs per year)
Your free miles translates into a fixed credit amount of £161 which will be paid onto your Octopus account once your first direct debit has been taken.
The Credit as applied to your Octopus account will reflect our estimate of the cost of charging during the Intelligent Octopus Go off-peak/smart charging period only and using the current Intelligent Octopus Go rates.
- We will provide the Credit as a one-off account credit on your electricity account and only once you’ve successfully switched to the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff, and made your first direct debit payment. Please note that switching to the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff may take some time, and will depend on whether you are already an Octopus Energy customer, and whether you already have a smart meter installed.
- If during the process it is discovered that it is not feasible for you to have a compatible smart meter installed which means you are not able to switch to the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff, we will provide you with the amount of credit offered as if you had switched to this tariff, on your Octopus Energy electricity account. The credit amount will be £161.
- If the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff rate changes, your credit will remain the same, but the cost to charge your EV will vary.
