How to connect your low-carbon tech in a Zero Bills home

Please follow the steps below to connect your GivEnergy battery (you should have already received an email from GivEnergy inviting you to set up your account):

1. Create your GivEnergy account using the email invitation.
2. Download the Octopus Energy app (if you haven’t already).
3. Open the app and go to Devices.
4. Click ‘More…’ and select Battery.
5. Select GivEnergy.
6. You’ll be automatically redirected to the GivEnergy login screen.
7. Sign in using your GivEnergy SSO login.
8. Complete the two‑factor authentication using the 6‑digit code emailed to you.
9. Accept the permission request so Octopus can control your battery.

That’s it! Your GivEnergy battery is now connected.

If you haven’t received an email from GivEnergy, please contact your housebuilder or solar installer, they’ll be able to help!

Please follow these steps to complete your Tesla battery setup:

1. Make sure you are signed up with Tesla and have your username and password ready (your housebuilder can help if you don’t).
2. Download the Octopus Energy app (if you haven't already).
3. Go to Devices and then click Add device.
4. Select Battery, then Tesla.
5. Tap Agree and connect.
6. Sign in to your Tesla account (through the Octopus app).

Once signed in, we’ll begin connecting to your Powerwall - this can take up to 7 days.From the moment you start the connection process, you should notice in your Tesla app that you are enrolled into the Virtual Power Plant (VPP).If you’re having issues with any of the steps above, please contact us at hello@octopus.energy

Step 1: Open the Octopus Energy app.

Go to the 'Devices' tab and press 'Octopus Charge'.

Step 2: Press and hold the button under the charger for 5 seconds until the LED light starts flashing blue. Then tap let’s get started.

You'll be asked to enter the six digit bluetooth pin that is on the front of the customer guide.

Step 3: Turn on Bluetooth permissions so that the Octopus app can connect to the charger.

Step 4: Is only displayed if Octopus Charge has not been able to connect to 4G.

Make sure the WiFi network that your mobile devices is connected to is the one that you want Octopus Charge to connect too.

Note: Octopus Charge works with 2.4GHz WiFi networks.

Step 5: Select your EV make and model.

It’s important that you select the correct make and model as it will provide us the size of battery your EV has so that we can add the right amount of charge.

Step 6: Turn on notifications so you can see when a charging schedule is sent.

Step 7: Your Octopus Charge is all set up!

Tap 'Let’s go!' to get charging.

Step 8: Set the time you want your EV to be charged by, and the percentage of charge you’d like to add.

Step 1: Open the Octopus Energy app.

Go to the 'Devices' tab and press 'Add device'.

Step 2: Select the device you’d like to integrate with.

For your Zappi, select 'Electric vehicle'.

You'll be asked if you are at home with your EV plugged in, make sure this is the case before continuing. Your car needs to be plugged in, but not charging.

Step 3: Select your EV make and model.

Step 4: Select your Zappi model

Select 'Myenergi' from the dropdown and select your model.

Step 5: Connect your Zappi

We now need to connect to your Zappi to make sure we can control it and schedule your charging.

If you are happy with the T&Cs, tap 'Agree and connect' and then sign in to your Myenergi account.

Once logged in, you will be asked to select the charger that you'd like to link and then tap 'Continue'.

Step 6: Your Zappi is connected!

Your Zappi is now connected - press 'Explore Dashboard' to get charging.

Step 1: Open the Octopus Energy app.

Go to the 'Devices' tab and press 'Add device'.

Step 2: Select the device you’d like to integrate with.

For your Hypervolt, select 'Electric vehicle'.

You'll be asked if you are at home with your EV plugged in, make sure this is the case before continuing. Your car needs to be plugged in, but not charging.

Step 3: Select your EV make and model

Step 4: Select your Hypervolt model

Select 'Hypervolt' from the dropdown and select your model.

Step 5: Connect your Hypervolt

We now need to connect to your Hypervolt to make sure we can control it and schedule your charging.

If you are happy with the T&Cs, tap 'Agree and connect' and then sign in to your Hypervolt account.

Once logged in, you will be asked to select the charger that you'd like to link and then tap 'Continue'.

Step 6: Your Hypervolt is connected!

Your Hypervolt is now connected - press 'Explore Dashboard' to set your charging preferences.

Step 1: Open the Octopus Energy app
Go to the Devices tab and select Add device.

Step 2: Choose the device to integrate
Select Electric vehicle.
You’ll be asked to confirm you’re at home with your EV plugged in. Please ensure your car is plugged in (but not charging) before continuing.

Step 3: Select your EV make and model

Step 4: Select your Ohme charger model
Choose Ohme from the dropdown and then select your specific model.

Step 5: Connect your Ohme
We’ll now link your Ohme charger so we can control and schedule your charging.
If you're happy with the T&Cs, tap Agree and connect, then sign in to your Ohme account.
Once logged in, select the charger you want to link and tap Continue.

Step 6: You’re all set!
Your Ohme is now connected. Tap Explore Dashboard to start smart charging.

Please note: You’ll need to set your charge preferences in the separate Ohme app.

Step 1: Open the Octopus Energy app.
Go to the 'Devices' tab and press 'Add device'.

Step 2: Select the device you’d like to integrate with.
For your Tesla, select 'Electric vehicle'.

You'll be asked if you are at home with your EV plugged in, make sure this is the case before continuing. Your car needs to be plugged in, but not charging.

Step 3: Select your EV make and model.
Select 'Tesla' from the dropdown and select your model.

Step 4: Add your charger make and model.

Step 5: Connect your Tesla
We now need to connect to your Tesla to make sure we can control it and schedule your charging.

If you are happy with the T&Cs, tap 'Agree and connect' and then sign in to your Tesla account.

Once logged in, you will be asked to 'add a virtual key'.

Please note: if your Tesla is a Model X or S from before 2021, or you lease your vehicle, adding a virtual key is not required and you can skip this step by pressing 'Agree and continue'.

Open your Tesla app, click on allow third parties to access your vehicles, then return to the previous Tesla screen and click on ‘Finish setup’.

Return to the Octopus app, and click on ‘Agree and continue’

Step 6: Your Tesla is connected!
Your Tesla is now connected - press 'Explore Dashboard' to get charging.

Step 1: Open the Octopus Energy app.
Go to the 'Devices' tab and press 'Add device'.

Step 2: Select the device you’d like to integrate with.
For your Ford, select 'Electric vehicle'.

You'll be asked if you are at home with your EV plugged in, make sure this is the case before continuing. Your car needs to be plugged in, but not charging.

Step 3: Select your EV make and model.
Select 'Ford' from the dropdown and select your model

Step 4: Select your charger make and model.

Step 5: Connect your Ford
We now need to connect to your Ford to make sure we can control it and schedule your charging.

If you are happy with the T&Cs, tap 'Agree and connect' and then sign in to your Ford account.

Once logged in, you will be asked to select the EV that you'd like to link and then tap 'Continue' - then click 'Authorise'.

Step 6: You Ford is connected!
Your Ford is now connected - press 'Explore Dashboard' to get charging.

Step 1: Open the Octopus Energy app.
Go to the 'Devices' tab and press 'Add device'.

Step 2: Select the device you’d like to integrate with.
For your EV, select 'Electric vehicle'.

You'll be asked if you are at home with your EV plugged in, make sure this is the case before continuing. Your car needs to be plugged in, but not charging.

Step 3: Select your EV make and model.
Select your EV make & model from the dropdown.

Step 4: Select your charger make and model.
Select your charger make & model from the dropdown.

Step 5: Connect your EV
We now need to connect to your EV to make sure we can control it and schedule your charging. Click on 'Connect device', you'll then be prompted to sign into your EV account.

Continue to follow the prompts. Once signed in and a vehicle has been found, click 'Connect'.

Step 6: Your EV is connected!
Your EV is now connected - press 'Explore Dashboard' to get charging.
