Octopus Energy teams up with LG to supercharge heating and cooling across Europe

  • LG’s heat pumps and air conditioners will be paired with Octopus’s smart Kraken tech to cut bills and carbon for millions of households.
  • Partnership kicks off in the UK and Germany with plans to expand across Europe.
  • Customers will enjoy lower running costs and greener homes thanks to intelligent optimisation.

London/Berlin, 2nd September 2025 – Octopus Energy, the UK’s largest energy supplier and heat pump installer, has signed a new strategic partnership with LG Electronics, one of the world’s largest electronics companies, to bring affordable, planet-friendly heating and cooling to homes across Europe.

The tie-up will see LG’s cutting-edge heat pumps and air conditioners integrated with Octopus’s proprietary technology platform, Kraken, which enables users to automatically run devices when energy is cheapest and greenest.

This powerful combination will help households slash energy bills, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and speed up Europe’s move to net zero by offering greater flexibility via technology.

Heating is one of Europe’s biggest climate challenges, responsible for around a fifth of carbon emissions.

Governments across Europe are backing heat pumps to replace polluting gas boilers, with the UK setting a target of installing 600,000 heat pumps a year by 2028.

Octopus is already one of Europe’s biggest installers, fitting thousands of heat pumps every month, and has invested more than £50m into heat pump factories, training centres and R&D.

The deal was signed at Octopus’s London HQ, with Octopus founder and CEO Greg Jackson joining LG executives including Thomas (TaeBong) Yoon, President of LG’s Overseas Sales & Marketing Company.

Initially launching in the UK and Germany, the partnership will expand into more European markets over time and grow to cover other appliances, as the companies combine LG’s global hardware expertise with Octopus’s world-class software.

Greg Jackson, founder and CEO of Octopus Energy, said: “Heat pumps are the linchpin of clean, affordable heating – and LG makes some of the best on the market. By plugging them and their air conditioning units into our Kraken tech, we can make them even cheaper to run, giving households an easy way to cut their bills while helping the planet.”

Thomas Yoon, President of LG’s Overseas Sales & Marketing, said: “This partnership with Octopus Energy Group represents a significant milestone in our European growth strategy. We will continue to explore new opportunities that create differentiated customer value and secure sustainable growth drivers in the global market.”

Octopus Energy has been leading the charge on electrification of heat, installing tens of thousands of heat pumps already across Europe. LG’s advanced systems – powered by its CoreTech inverter compressor – deliver exceptional performance and efficiency, making them a perfect match for Octopus’s customer-first approach.
