Free football kits: ‘Octopus Kits for Kids’ signs for another season
- Octopus to give away another 27,000+ free football kits via a prize draw
- Huge demand last year saw 27,000+ dazzling ‘Octokits’ given to grassroots teams
- Part of popular rewards programme, Octoplus, used by over 2.5 million customers
London 24th April, 2025 - Octopus Energy’s popular free football kits giveaway, Octopus Kits for Kids, is going into its second season, following a successful first year.
Last year marked the inaugural kits giveaway, where members of Octopus’ rewards program, Octoplus, could nominate local grassroots teams to receive free ‘Octokits’ – custom kits featuring club colours and branding.
Originally aiming to outfit 500 teams, Octopus expanded the programme last year due to overwhelming demand, giving away over 27,000 eye-catching ‘Octokits’, enabling teams to hit the field in style.
As well as getting flashy new kits, last year’s teams also had the chance to win epic prizes, such as a tour of the iconic Emirates stadium.
Building on this success, Octopus is doubling the number of kits on the field by supplying a further 27,000 dazzling free kits this year via a prize draw*. Once again, the company is teaming up with UK manufacturer MG Sportswear to offer slick, high-quality designs.
Teams can choose between the distinctive Octopus-designed ‘Octokits’, a plain kit customisable with team logos and colours, or a vertical striped kit also featuring logos and colour options. All kits include team numbers and the Octopus emblem.
Octoplus is now used by over 2.5 million customers who have racked up £24 million worth of ‘Octopoints’. Customers signed up to Octoplus can earn points simply by keeping a healthy energy account, or by reducing their energy usage during the company’s legendary Saving Sessions.
Beyond free football kits, Octoplus customers enjoy a variety of rewards, including free sweet treats, festival tickets, kids’ cinema trips, and mouthwatering restaurant discounts.
Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, Chief Product Officer at Octopus Energy, commented: “After last year’s incredible response, we’re buzzing to bring back our free ‘Octokits’ giveaway for another season. Seeing grassroots teams across the UK hit the pitch in fresh, vibrant kits was a real highlight last year. We can’t wait to see even more teams kitted out in wavy kits, ready to dazzle their opponents!”
Jamal, Coach at Engage FC, said: “This is a brilliant campaign run by Octopus Energy, grassroots football teams like us rely on sponsorship and the generosity of the local community to allow the young people to play football. Football kits are expensive, so to be given these kits for free is a great help. Our team will make good use of the kits and wear them for the next few years.”
Esme, Player at MSB Woolton FC Celta Girls U9s, said: “I love the kits. The colours are really nice and when we play in them, my friends from other teams always say they want one. I love them.”
