Beat the April rises. Fix your price with Octopus

The energy price cap is increasing in April. Lock your rates now and you could save over £100.

Starting April 1st, the Ofgem energy price cap is set at £1,849 per year for a typical home. That’s a 6% increase from current prices and 9% higher than at the same time last year.

Fix your prices now and secure a year or more at today's rates. For a typical home, this could shave over £100 off their annual energy bill compared to the April rises.

With no exit fees, if energy prices do unexpectedly drop in the future, you’re always in control.

We know how difficult this can be and want to see prices to going down, not up

Our CEO Greg recorded this short video to explain the changes and your options.

The numbers behind the savings:

  • Octopus Energy’s fixed tariff is also below the current and April Ofgem price cap. While prices change regularly, a typical dual fuel annual quote is £1722 as of 25/02/2025. [Source: Internal Octopus data]

  • This means no matter if you're new to Octopus or a loyal customer, if you're currently paying price cap rates (on a variable tariff), now could be a good moment to fix energy prices to avoid April price hikes.

Where the data comes from

The data comes from the Cornwall Insight Domestic Energy Market Share Survey, which tracks changes in key measures of supply competition. This includes the numbers of domestic electricity, gas and dual fuel accounts held by the competing suppliers in the 14 electricity distribution regions of Great Britain, and also in aggregate across the jurisdiction. The survey is based on detailed research by Cornwall Insight using a wide variety of industry and proprietary sources.
