What is an Octopus Cosy Accredited Installer?
Getting a heat pump installed is a big decision. You’re putting your home (and your hard-earned pennies) in our tentacles, and we don't take that lightly. We're selling loads of heat pumps, which is amazing news for the green transition, but it means we’re pretty busy and we’ve had to prioritise — so there are areas of the UK and certain housing types that we don’t cover.
But whether we can do it ourselves or not, we’re totally committed to making sure everyone in the UK can get a world-class installation.
That’s where our Cosy Accredited Installers come in. Think of them as an extension of the Octopus family — vetted, tested and completely obsessed with getting your home toasty. They've won our official stamp of approval to install the Cosy Octopus heat pump, meaning they meet the high standards we set for our own teams.
Why we have this program
We’re passionate about getting the UK on to green, clean energy as quickly as we can. By partnering with other installers, the process can happen much quicker than if we did it alone. But your experience is super important to us too, so we want to make sure that every single person who touches your Cosy is up to snuff.
How does the accreditation process work?
Think of it like getting a black belt. It takes a lot of training, only the best people manage it, and it’s really cool.
- The dojos Plumbers and electricians head to our centres in Sheffield, Hinckley or Slough to learn the ways of the Cosy from the same elite teams who train our in-house installers.
- The training montage They perform test installs that are checked by our Senseis — the internal tech team — to make sure their workmanship is spot on.
- The student becomes the master Once they’ve proven their technique is flawless, they graduate from the dojo. They are no longer trainees; they are fully fledged experts we trust to enter your home.

What properties do they install in?
Our mission at Octopus is simple: drive down the cost of heat pumps until every home can afford to go green.
To do that, we have to be ruthlessly efficient. We’re set up like a Formula 1 pit crew — highly specialised to install our beloved Cosy’s perfectly, quickly and at the lowest possible price. By sticking to a strict, standardised blueprint, we cut out the complexity that would drive up costs for you.
But this means we can't do everything. That is where our Accredited Installers step in. They handle the homes that need a bespoke touch:
The complex and custom
British homes are often brilliantly bonkers. If a customer needs a design that falls outside our standardised, low-cost model, we don’t want to abandon them. We instead pass them to our partners, who often have the flexibility to come up with a bespoke solution. This lets us keep our prices down for the majority while making sure complex homes still get the care they need.
Filling in the map
Sending a van six hours for one install would drive up overheads (and your bills). We cluster our teams in dense hubs to maximise efficiency while our partners cover the wider map, ensuring you can get a heat pump without a “long-distance” price tag .
Social and council housing
This requires a completely different operational approach, and it’s not something we’re set up for at present. Our partners specialise in working with councils and housing associations to upgrade social housing stock at scale.
Zero Bills homes
They also support our mission to build the future, installing Cosy heat pumps in brand-new properties for the Zero Bills initiative.
