With well over 100,000 EV drivers taking advantage of Octopus Energy smart tariffs, we like to think we know what we're doing when it comes to helping EV drivers save money. And with around 35% of our customers electricity bill coming from charging their EV, it's definitely worth your time to do some research on whether or not you're on the best tariff for you.

Since we launched our Intelligent Octopus EV smart tariff in 2022, sign-ups to have grown 30% each month. It's not hard to understand why; a driver with average mileage on Intelligent Octopus can save up to £800 each year compared to charging on a standard variable tariff. If you're regularly charging your car at home on a standard variable tariff, you could save by switching.

How does it work?

Intelligent Octopus lets EV drivers benefit from off-peak charging every day which includes six hours of guaranteed off-peak charging at just 7.5p/kWh. This works out to 2 pence per mile (1.9p to be precise)!

You’ll also get cheaper electricity during these hours for the rest of your home, so you can save more by changing some of your usage habits, like putting your washing machine, dishwasher or clothes dryer on a timer overnight.
