The numbers behind the savings:

  • While prices change regularly, a typical dual-fuel annual quote is £1575 as of 29 April 2025.
  • Ofgem announced the 2025 April price cap at £1,849 per year for a typical household who use electricity and gas and pay by Direct Debit.
  • This means no matter if you're new to Octopus or a loyal customer, if you're currently paying price cap rates (on a variable tariff), a typical home could fix their energy prices now with Octopus to save over £250.

Where the data comes from

The data comes from the Cornwall Insight Domestic Energy Market Share Survey, which tracks changes in key measures of supply competition. This includes the numbers of domestic electricity, gas and dual fuel accounts held by the competing suppliers in the 14 electricity distribution regions of Great Britain, and also in aggregate across the jurisdiction. The survey is based on detailed research by Cornwall Insight using a wide variety of industry and proprietary sources.
