We're looking for a Fleet Finance Specialist - finance and accounting responsibilities

We're looking for a Fleet Finance Specialist to take responsibility for the finance and accounting activities related to Octopus Electric Vehicle fleet of vehicles on lease to consumer and business clients. Non-fleet finance activities (for example, all overheads, payroll, R&D) will be the responsibility of our Group Finance team or Head of Commercial.

What you'll do

  • Ensure transactions related to vehicle purchases, finance agreements with third-party banks, customer rentals etc are accounted for correctly
  • Produce invoices for monthly rentals and other ad-hoc payments from clients (largely automated via our finance system, but requires some oversight)
  • Keep our direct debit system up the date (partially automated, but requires management)
  • Maintaining our finance systems, such that it produces the correct transaction outputs for monthly accounts for each product and lease type we offer, with support from our tech team and group finance team
  • Review the payments we make to finance houses each month to ensure they are accurate and reflect the vehicles we have funded

What you'll need

  • A finance background, but not necessarily a chartered accountant. May be part-qualified or have gained experience on the job.
  • To have worked in car rental or leasing finance team
  • To have worked with integrated fleet management and accounting systems
  • Ideally have worked in a small to mid-sized, more entrepreneurial leasing business
  • To be keen to get stuck in and build new processes in areas like direct debit management, client invoicing, month end processing, maintenance budgeting etc from scratch
