What makes Octopus so....Octopus?

Our prices are fair

In normal times, we only charge you for what it costs us to supply your power, with 5% on top to cover our business costs.
We keep our standard variable tariff, Flexible Octopus, below the Ofgem Energy Price Cap. And we’re the only large energy company to have consistently priced it below the cap since it was introduced in 2019.
Beyond that, our smart tariffs help hundreds of thousands of customers save by using energy when it’s greener.
Since the energy crisis began, we’ve repeatedly cut into that 5%, spending £200 million from our pocket to keep our prices lower, because that’s the right thing to do.
We were made in Britain, and we’re investing loads back into the British energy system
The nation’s energy grid is out-of-date, over-stretched and not fit for the future. For too long, the powers that be have relied on imported fossil fuels to meet demand and power Britain’s homes. We’re changing that. By investing in homegrown green energy, building electric alternatives to gas-powered heating and driving, and empowering customers to use power flexibly – we’re building a more resilient grid that works for British people.
In Saving Sessions, we reward customers for being smart with their energy
In Saving Sessions, millions of Octoplus members Power Down and earn rewards for using less electricity at peak times.
Since introducing these sessions, we’ve taken things a step further with Power Up sessions. When the sun’s shining and wind’s blowing, we reward customers for soaking up juicy green electrons that would otherwise go to waste. In total, customers have received over £10 million worth of rewards to date: a huge win for wallets and the planet!

We take extra care of customers who are struggling to pay

We're fighting for the UK's independent, secure green future through renewables
From pushing to slash the red tape around building wind turbines to get more of them spinning sooner, to putting people at the centre of green power. We've developed the Fan Club, the UK's first tariff that gives communities up to 50% cheaper power when when their local wind turbine is spinning, and are launching Plots for Kilowatts, a 'dating agency' matching keen communities with local landowners who want to rent their space for a renewable generator.
